I don’t think ppl understand the whole “who cares if nobody likes it! make content for yourself” is extremely dismissive
Bc we ARE making the content for ourselves but it feels /bad/ when people don’t engage or show interest. You can care about both at the same time

Last time we went through Primm, we were the only people in the Carl's Jr aside from 2-3 workers and I was so anxious to be there because it felt like I could be teleported to the backrooms any minute. 😭And yet I love liminal spaces SO much...

I think a lot about the few times in my youth that I visited Primm, Nevada which was no longer at it's peak at the time but still teeming with people and big name stores. Upon stops in my adulthood I found it relatively abandoned, and unsettling, experiencing those changes in real time is so weird.

The decay and change of manmade environments is so interesting. When I visit my hometown I can point out what building was where before it was torn down. In my memory I recall bustling places that have become quiet, dormant and borderline liminal and that's such a strange and fascinating feeling.
