The third is set on a planet in the future, after colonisation has almost triggered another environmental collapse. But this time we do things differently, learn from the mistakes and work out how to exist more harmoniously. There is a lot more hope in this book.

The Deep Sky is the opposite, I powered through it in 2 days! Another set of astronauts, this time a crew of young women sent out on a planet colonising mission but shit hits the fan and it becomes a murder mystery in space. The world building is impressive and depressingly believable.

The first one is a tiny book that has taken me months to read. Each chapter is a glimpse into life on the international space station and what life is like as an astronaut, I’m finding it quite beautiful, very meditative, but also there is no urgency to the story so it’s easy to dip in and out of.

Yesterday I saw a dog at the farmers markets with a tag declaring its name to be “Jiffy Lube”. This has shot right up to the top of my favourite dog names next to “Bin Chicken”. 😂
