Republicans seriously went all-in on being anti-trans as a political strategy to build a coalition that wins elections, it didn't work, and there are Republicans who... are just going to run that playbook again and hope it works the next time.

Remind me what the definition of insanity is again.
Anecdotally it feels like Elon cranked the anti trans hate even higher on Twitter after election night
Oh, I know. I just don't think anything he does will enhance his popularity. His political survival is 100% dependent on undermining rule of law at this point.
They didn't overlook Donald Trump's bigoted nonsense, they endorsed it.
And Republicans are still saying 'no'. They own this.
"I get that he is excited about war but that doesn't mean there is one."

Donald Trump called for US cities to be used as training grounds for the US military... which almost certainly means he wants a war with US cities.
Also, the foreign policy implications of speeding up weapons acquisition for foreign policy clients who work with us... are not great to say the least. www.forbes.com/sites/willia...
For those who want a genuine explanation of what this means: he wants to prioritize the speed of weapon system reviews, production, and delivery. This *will* inherently come at the expense of performance (i.e. increase operational risk).

He's lying when he says this will decrease operational risk.
Hegseth: "Let me say that again. We need to increase acquisition risk in order to decrease operational risk ... An 85% solution in the hands of our armed forces today is infinitely better than an unachievable 100% solution endlessly undergoing testing."
The best news about the election results is that there is no chance of Donald Trump maneuvering to make himself more popular before the 2026 midterms. He's unpopular right now, and that trend is only going to get worse.
The abuses of Donald Trump's administration are going to surpass the reasons that the United States fought a war for independence, and we all need to emotionally brace ourselves for this reality.
"We're sabotaging air traffic in order to protect the President from being exposed as a pedophile."

It sounds like the worst fiction novel plot ever, but this is real life.
We've gone from the myth that Mussolini "made the trains run on time" to Donald Trump's plan... to not make the planes run on time.
Donald Trump was annoyed that someone collapsed in his vicinity because he knew that meant he was not the center of attention for a few moments in his life.
Donald Trump is currently going to war with Portland and Chicago.

I’m paying attention to every place he threatens with war, especially after there was a significant effort to convince us that he was the “peace candidate.”
No matter what the end game for her "rehabilitation" tour is, Marjorie Taylor Greene voted to overturn the results of 2020 US presidential election, that vote was a direct assault on our democracy, and that has to follow her around forever.
Collins: When the president says there's virtually no inflation and that grocery prices are going down, do you agree with him on that?

Greene: No. I go to the grocery store myself. Grocery prices remain high. Energy prices are high.
Donald Trump is literally making me hate gold.
She was so alarmed by the 2020 US Presidential election results that she voted to overturn them.
"I think the Court should forgo checking executive power just like Congress has."

—Republican Speaker of the House
Democrats get lectured in a thousand thinkpieces about how to avoid alienating voters. Meanwhile, Republicans calling for the repeal of the 19th Amendment doesn't get treated by our media as "alienating" voters.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump also won't call off his war on *checks notes* Chicago and Portland.
I don't know why he's complaining. Donald Trump tried to have his original Vice President killed, and this country still re-elected him. I'm sure that's his backup plan if Vance sufficiently annoys him.
The GOP's entire political brand is white identity politics.

The people who have discouraged Democrats from engaging in identity politics aren't doing that because they're afraid Democrats who embrace identity politics will lose.

They're afraid Democrats who embrace identity politics will win.
Didn’t folks say “identity politics” was the reason we weren’t winning
The GOP spent *this year* trying to tie Mamdani to the Democratic Party's brand everywhere as a strategy to win elections, and it didn't work. So...
