I saw a documentary recently where this is one of the monuments dictators love to copy & then try to beat previous measurements in size or height as some kind of grandiose symbol of excess wealth & power-You aren't wrong. At some point we'll have to dismantle his liberace Whitehouse to melt the gold

As a true independent voter, raised to be republican, registered independent since 1992, I am a fiscal conservative (sort of) & a social liberal.
