She holds your gaze confidently – her stare gentle yet seemingly all-seeing. You two are amongst the trees in the dark forest; you can see the axe you left in the tree stump earlier that day and the basket of wood you’ve collected sat behind her. You recall that you entrusted her to keep watch whilst you rested your eyes for a short while. She’s been so kind to you even though you are but a stranger – it can be a lonely and a dangerous place in the forest but she always makes you feel safe and welcome. As you join her by the campfire, from the corner of your eye you catch sight of something thin and long, like a rope with a frayed end, flicking around behind her… however in the darkness of the night you can’t be sure what you’ve seen. Perhaps your eyes are playing tricks on you?
