China has a number of open source AI companies frequently releasing models that compete or even exceed the capabilities of OpenAI's closed-source models. But sure, America is leading... in subscription fees, at least.
Apparently RAM prices have sky-rocketed in the last few weeks. I bought 64 GB DDR4 RAM about one year ago for $89.

The same RAM is now $319.

Reasoning I've seen for this per Reddit (for what that's worth) is that RAM is being bought up for generative AI workloads.

Reading a book is apparently the Number One most attractive hobby for women, according to a recent article from Vice.

That ought to explain the strange, haunting sounds of cheeks slapping in the library.

lol reading The Odin Project's career preparation section and so many of the articles are from the early 2010s and it shows.

"We recommend having several job offers in hand before you make a decision on which one to accept"

I've never owned an Xbox but it seems like Satya Nadella fundamentally misunderstands the brand and the video game market. Microsoft is going to destroy the Xbox brand in the next 3 to 5 years.

Anyway, I'm not sure who this appeals to other than the elder millenial crowd who came of age when this series was in its prime. Do you really want a bunch of middle-aged people joining up?

What does Gen Z play? Fortnite? Minecraft?
Would not have expected the official US government social media pages to be posting Halo memes.

I never really got the hype around Halo. It was fine, I guess, but I didn't feel like it was the most amazing thing.
For such a niche device, I can't imagine paying more than $500, though that limit could perhaps be bumped up to $1,000 for the AVP, given the its premium status.

And -- at least, currently -- the Galaxy XR has an unlocked boot loader, opening up the possibility to install custom firmware in the future.

The Apple Vision Pro remains the most advanced headset, but also the most expensive at nearly $4,000.

(6/7)
There are some advantages: the Galaxy XR headset has access to Google Play app store, so you can install any old Android app on it, while Quest is limited to Meta's app store.

(5/7)
And from what I understand, the Galaxy XR's strap is not removable, whereas the Quest's is, making customization significantly more limited.

(4/7)
Sure, the Galaxy XR features a higher resolution display and has eye-tracking sensors, unlocking new interaction methods,, but I don't feel like those features explain why it costs about $1,300 more than the Quest headset.

(3/7)
Despite this, the Meta Quest 3 costs about $500, while the Galaxy XR headset is $1,800.
