Right in the heart of the city what would be car parking in the UK is instead space for bike parking, greenery, and outdoor dining. When you make city centres safe and welcoming with cycle routes in every direction, you don't need endless car parks. Cities thrive when places are built for people.

Thorbeckeplein, Amsterdam in 1983 and today. I can't actually stand in the exact same spot as the photographer did in 1983 or I'd be among the tables between the tree and the buildings on the left!

In 1983 there is car parking to the left, two rows of car parking to the right and more car parking and another road behind that. Today it is all pedestrianised with a bike lane running through it. Outdoor seating replaces a lot of the car parking

In 1982 it is a wide street with a central divide and car parking on both sides of it. Today it has wide footways and a bike lane in the middle of it

This is such a smart way to handle bike lanes next to bus stops. Much safer for a pedestrian to have to cross a bike lane than for a cyclist to cross a bus lane - as we so often do.

Zeedijk, Amsterdam in 1980 and today.

In 1980 the road is open to cars, is wide and has cars parked on it. Today there are rising bollards preventing driving on this street and all car parking removed, replaced by outdoor seating outside a pub

And of course you fail to mention the huge amount of comments on Linkedin that disagreed with yours and Alex's "creativity" and were deleted to only show this in a positive light. An awful lot of people took offence to you putting this crap out there, for very good reason.

Perhaps instead be "creative" by targeting infrastructure. Here I am cycling across a Dutch city, along with thousands of other "cyclists" (or "people" as they're know in the Netherlands), stopping just a few times at traffic lights. That's how you solve it.

This isn't creative, it's just shit and further fuels the hateful narrative towards people like me, who just want to be able to safelt cycle to school with my daughter. It's not funny, it's not creative and I really don't care what 4,000 "cyclists" think of it.

No idea what your agency is or who "Andy" is, never mentioned any of them. You're right, the data doesn't back that up, which is why anecdotal nonsense about bikes should be ignored in any studies or campaigns.

In 1980 there is car parking alongside the canal, today this has been replaced with cafe outdoor seating
