“Xana didn’t get the future she deserved, she won’t be a bridemaid at my wedding, she won’t get to be a cool aunt,” older sister Jazzmin Kernodle said.
I've got to agree, but definitely not for me.
Eliciting claps from the audience, mother Kristi Goncalves repeated a comment from her youngest daughter, “you may have gotten A’s in college, but you’re getting big Ds in prison.”
Kaylee's older sister, Olivia Goncalves, also directed her comments to Kohberger.
“I will call you what you are,” Olivia Goncalves said. “Sociopath. Psychopath. Murderer."
Steve Goncalves turned the podium to face Kohberger as he spoke. Kohberger listened, unwavering.
“You tried to break our community apart…you failed,” Goncalves said. “You united all of us.”
“She was the greatest thing that I ever did,” Ben Mogen said. “I thought we would have the rest of our lives together.”

“Because of him, four beautiful people were taken from this world for no reason,” Mortensen said between breaths. “...He took away who they were becoming.”
The hearing has begun with roommate Bethany Funke.
Funke said she woke up around 7 a.m. with a bad toothache, took medicine, and then went back to sleep.
“If I had known, of course I would have called 911 right away,” Funke said.
