Transparent attempt to get Clint Eastwood to star in your biopic
I would accept this in exchange for petit fours being available at Trader Joe's.
Post your last photo of DC to show what a hellhole it is

(1) Choose collaborators carefully, and
(2) Personally I found it more fruitful to collaborate with fellow asst profs operating with similar timelines and incentives than sr faculty.

3. The POs for NIGMS and NIA have been phenomenal (as well as NIBIB, which is an aspiration for us). They have been very calm and reassuring, even as I know that their individual lives are very challenging. We are very lucky to have these staff and should be fighting for them whenever possible. 4/n
As a member of @model-ad.bsky.social it pains me to acknowledge that @niagads.bsky.social won the #AAIC25 swag battle. Well played!
Congratulations to Bruce, wearer of an extra snazzy purple tie today! #EndALZ

MARIANNE VOS WINS STAGE 1 OF 🇫🇷 #TDFF2025
Wow what an ending! Pauline Ferrand-Prévot had looked like taking the win but tires in the last metres leading to Marianne Vos taking her 250th win of her career, and the yellow jersey!

My commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion remains and I hope many will continue to follow regardless of the times
Congratulations Lucia for this recognition.
Your work has been key to make ISCB and our field in general an inclusive place.
You have also proven that inclusive research is top level research.
Thanks for leading the way
I found the new review criteria to be helpful for critique construction. No more "weakness counting" for those who wish to avoid it. Execution will probably depend on the SRO but my n=1 to date was positive.
Few things make me grumpier than people raising "grantsmanship" as if it was scorable
Agreed (n=2, doubling the evidence!). Too many repackaged and hastily assembled proposals, especially when taking a flyer on an RFA.
Ok Teams is a disaster but honestly I really like the new Factor 1/Factor 2 review rubric. Much cleaner discussions, more focused on the science and outcomes, and clear boundaries for the SRO/chair to enforce.
The way NIH's Teams meetings sporadically mute audio between random pairs of participants is a marvel of government efficiency. Bravo on the move away from a reliable videoconf platform, a decision I'm sure was made after consulting with the affected CSR staff.

But now it's extra sad for Minnesota
Yup, just a measure of player outcome regardless of later team moves. Also some of these picks were traded on draft night and probably chosen by the destination team.
And here's how well your team has drafted given who was available at the time (based on career WS data from bbref). League average for making the best possible choice is only 10.8%.
Discuss it with the people the grant supports. They might be considering other career paths if no one upstairs can be bothered to object.
Anyone know the appropriate ceremony for the death of a spider that has been living in your sink for the past six weeks?

RIP, you
