There are many ways to subtly change the rules to create new games too. Loser takes last chip, different sizes of piles, numbers of piles, etc. There is a lot written about Nim games.
Wow! Thank you Jed. That is high praise indeed. We have many more examples of you ever want them.
Now that #NCTMATL25 is over, The next best thing is to scroll through all of the posts from the hashtag and follow everyone I wasn't already following. Great way to build a wonderful list. Thank you all for a fabulous week!.
It was a fabulous presentation, thank you so much for your ideas, innovation and stories. I can't wait to do some watercoloring and remind myself of the week. Thank you!
Hey Melynee, where is this ballroom?
The Venn Diagram I use in class almost every day to center our conversations is this one. Compilation of several sources and materials.

Running R code on your phone... that is definitely magic!!

webR also makes it super easy to create #rstats learning resources that students can work with using just a browser, no install drama needed.

@misscalcul8.bsky.social Just wanted to let you know I shared your bell work posts with a teacher intern. You are amazing, and what you do matters! Thank you so much for all you do Elissa!
My entire program uses these at the undergraduate level. They matter so much! And my students appreciate the thoughtfulness.

I presented on this problem today!

You can find the slides here:

I don't use speaker notes (just vibes) but I think a recorded version exists and I'll try to link to it if/when I can.

Shelli’s sister asked me to share that “the service is going to be on the funeral app after the funeral. Please tell everyone to watch. They may see their picture. All the songs are going to be her singing.”
The funeral service for Shelli Temple, @druinok.bsky.social will be held July 9, at 10 AM in the CHS Activity Center. The obituary & additional information will be updated on the funeral home website as it becomes available.

The Trump administration is currently holding hostage nearly $7B in federal funding for K-12 schools--funding that was supposed to be distributed yesterday.

They've stolen $80M from Wisconsin students and teachers alone. How much have they stolen from your state?

I had one student this year write a task for every week of the student teaching. About half were not great, but the other half were amazing. It takes this kind of trial and error to really build a library of great tasks.
They have some of the best tasks. NRich is fabulous as well.
I do think it is because of the connections we have. So many people are looking for this type of learning.
I just added that book to my "to buy" list. It may be a fabulous book study for my graduates. Thank you!
This is where pd, and post BA work comes into play.
The issue is time. Students are required (here) by law to take x number of education courses, y number of math classes and z number of general classes with x+y+z never to exceed 120 credits. They only have about 3 classes of electives.
I mention it, but there isn't enough tone to really engage in it during teacher prep. They are just wrapping their heads around standards and how learners interact with the math. Task design requires deep knowledge of all three areas: content, pedagogy, and learners.

This is worth 3 minutes of your time. No one wants to eat at a restaurant that only serves bland chicken. (It’s not about chicken, or restaurants, tho)
