One thing that I hope helps some people snap out of it is reminding them: “feigning Nazism to entertain your friends is a strange hobby to put this much effort into.”

If you call them “racist,” they’ll just deny it and say it’s not true. But it’s a LOT harder for them to deny it’s… weird 🧐

If it sounds like I'm speaking from experience it's because this exact thing has happened to me *twice*. Once on Discord and once on Telegram. Both times it took years and both times it got EXTREMELY bad. And it's why I don't join any random group chat someone invites me to. Never happening again.

The Nazi Bar anecdote is a real analogy. It starts like "okay some of my friend's friends are a little outrageous but they're probably kidding, and I'm not racist and my friend isn't racist so I guess these memes and stickers and gifs aren't ACTUALLY racist. And then just one day,

HOWEVER, buried in all of the Nazi rhetoric were discussions about how they had to glaze Trump even though they hated him and knew he was in the Epstein files. I'm certain that no one likes Trump anymore. He has even lost the Nazis.

It was an extremely weak decade for basically every genre. It has a handful of surefire classics of course, but yeah. The early 2010s was all EDM sludge, the mid 2010s were genre throwback Bruno Mars songs, and the late 2010s were all meme one hit wonders. And Adele. She was there for all of it.
