I'm glad I already made the decision to stop crowdfunding. As a film festival director, I'll be curious to see if fewer films are made because of this. #boycottindiegogo
The world constantly takes away those things which enable indies to keep moving forward: Redbox, DVD, Blu-ray, Tubi... the corporations are constantly making it harder for us. That's the game, and we constantly have to find new ways to fund our films and get them seen by the public...
...company will come along. For the time being, I recommend supporting Indiegogo campaigns by friends already running, but to stop supporting Indiegogo campaigns thereafter. Our friends can re-launch elsewhere. It won't be the same. For now, film crowdfunding is not a viable option for features...
...even though I believe in treating others as I wish to be treated. This Indiegogo development is already a disaster for some of them in various stages. My heart goes out to them. Maybe Kickstarter and Seed and Spark will step up and introduce new programs to fill the void. Maybe some other...
...for me after the pandemic, when we didn't even know if there would be an indie film industry, but we've weathered that storm (our current financial precipice is another storm, though). I have a lot of friends who crowdfund. At times, there are just too many campaigns going on at once to support..
...and I hope there's a class action lawsuit. I had already decided not to crowdfund future features, except maybe to enhance budgets I raise through other sources. I'm in the Producers Guild of America, and it's against their rule to offer "producer" perks. Crowdfunding was an ideal alternative...
...which don't have flexible options. This is TERRIBLE news for indies and it's a terrible business decision for Indiegogo. Worse, they simply "disappeared" in-progress "Pre-Launch" campaigns, and have also "disappeared" existing contributor records. These last 2 points should be illegal...
...even if they don't reach their target goal. "I'd LOVE to make 50K, but I can do it for 30K if I have to." Unfortunately, new owners have taken over, and they've eliminated this option. So Indiegogo is no longer the best option for indies, who will go to Kickstarter or Seed and Spark...
... an average of 50% of my budgets. Indiegogo has been the life's blood for micro filmmakers, even though crowdfunding has become much harder than it used to be, and Indiegogo has been the best platform for filmmakers because of its "flexible" option which allows filmmakers to keep funds...
INDIEGOGO. #Indiegogo #film #filmmaking I'm a small potatoes microbudget indie filmmaker, but over my career I've raised over a million dollars to make my 10 little movies. Investors, distributor advances, crowdfunding. Over the last 3 pictures, Indiegogo contributions have accounted for...
If you live in Chautauqua County, New York, my new werewolf film FRENZY MOON is screening at the Fredonia Opera House, in the town I grew up in, tomorrow (Fri) at 7 pm. Gorgeous venue, and we had a full house there six years ago for WIDOW'S POINT. Good article from the local paper. #film #screening
Two sites put it up early, before the distributor released the press release. We're supposed to have an exclusive announcement with a big site, hopefully this doesn't jeopardize that. Every day I check for the announcement, which is frustrating. It has to be today or tomorrow, very frustrating.
My new film FRENZY MOON has 3 screenings coming up: at Lusca Fantastic Fest in Puerto Rico this Monday at 5pm; at Fredonia Opera House in Fredonia, NY this Fri @ 7pm; and at AMT International Film Festival in NYC on Halloween. The trailer and release date will FINALLY drop sometime this week. #Film

UNBILLIEVABLE! THE MOVIE, a comedy I produced and served as 1st AD on, will be released on VOD October 24th. Proud of our little movie, which is a lot more genuine than the Bills-themed #Hallmark movie airing around the same time. youtu.be/49Jsonpc0to?... #indiefilm
