I'm so tired of tech company hype for things that are either reinventing the wheel or borrowing ideas & acting like they thought of them themselves. These people get millions for simply being parasites or selling broken chatbots & calling it the future.
1) Asian countries have been doing online & in person rent a friend services for years. 2) My kid had friends in Sweden & the Philippines a decade ago thru things like Tumblr. It's why we called it social media - you could & can meet folk all over the world & be part of online communities.

YOU CANNOT GRIND THE BONES OF YOUR ENEMIES INTO DUST TOMORROW IF YOU DO NOT DO YOUR STRETCHES.
No need to thank, I should know better than to post like that, I messed up.
I'm so sorry, I wasn't thinking, I will delete.
Ok, I'll stop ranting in your mentions, sorry. Just overly frustrated, especially w/ my fellow white folk who keep acting like things suddenly changed in the society instead of this being the next stage in the battle for progress.
Trump & co were & are the sturdy ground. It never fully collapsed & their whole politics is shaming the marginalized w/ threats & violence as "radicals." Civil rights movements against autocracy try to collapse the repressive social order we've always endured, which requires calling it bad (shame).
We know "shame" does work currently in US politics, not bc they feel deep inner shame in themselves, but bc they don't like folk they aren't used to talking back to them defying them & making them look bad. If uppity becomes the cultural norm, then hierarchy shrinks - not fully gone, but lessens.
"Shaming" them in protest isn't about exerting authority over them (the 1 up, 1 down of bigot hierarchies). It's defying their authority over the marginalized, saying not just no kings, but no peasants & not only to open autocrats but to "moderates" who worry about losing privilege & being scolded.
It's a fundamental discomfort w/ the word "shame". Bc you're not supposed to shame (criticize as an equal, defy, demand change of, take power from) white folk, men, cishet folk - anyone dominant on that dominance they enjoy. You can't call them/us bad bc your dominant rep is you're good at heart.
The problem is the idea that we stopped being a white supremacy patriarchy that discriminates against LGBTQ folk & the disabled (i.e. shame "worked") & now Trump & co. has made us a society that is that again. We never stopped being that society. They are acting the same as they did 40 yrs ago.

All the business emails I write this days are like “I hope you’re doing well despite [the apocalypse] I’m enjoying working with you despite the [national guard occupation, kidnappings, ICE violence]. I hope you get the chance to [enjoy a blueberry muffin, put up a fresh “Chinga la migra” sign]
On that point, anyone know a good course in learning how to use Linux for future reference?
Due to combo of asthmatic lungs & esophageal reflux, I now get increasingly hoarse if I'm talking a lot in a day. Things get inflamed. I'm not the only one, millions have similar problems (1 reason remote work is popular.) Forcing folk to constantly talk to a computer to use it is ableism, as usual.

They don't want to be seen as autocratic, violent white lordlings; they want to be seen as benign & beneficent white lordlings, the good worthy folk & when that cultural rep is criticized & pointed out as a myth, they get very cross (white fragility) & threaten to be a violent white lordling.

A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

Post from WH about Chicago "in chaos," showing scene from another state.
Ok, but did you interview them in the local diner? That's the important part.

OC-tober #12, "Secrets"

An experimental redraw of an old piece from 7 or 8 years ago

Digital art in black and warm greyscale. The stark silhouette of a woman in a wide brimmed hat and billowing trenchcoat stands below a city streetlight, smoke drifting from her cigarette holder up into the oppressive darkness. A sphinx cat in a golden collar sits nearby. They cast no shadows. Instead, inky tendrils creep across the ground, crawling into the night and towards the viewer. The edges of both figures seem to dissolve insubstantially into the blackness.
He wouldn't get into the boat if it was piloted by a Black man bc he's a vile right wing racist who always saw himself as William F Buckley's heir. He should have been ignored for publication 20 yrs ago & no one will miss him when he finally dies. He helped build Trump world, he's worthless.
The only change we've had in the culture is when we defy the norm & erode the values so that parts of the hierarchy collapse. If we do not defy & shame them, we won't even have that. Civil rights is basically a constant struggle to shame defy equal rights into existence one inch at a time.
