Ever since the Contract on America the Democrats have just been responding to whatever garbage the Republicans throw at them and not coming up with anything bold on their own. Usually the response is "we can be even meaner than that".

Stephen Miller didn't go to law school, doesn't have a law degree, hasn't passed a bar exam, and never practiced law. He has zero qualifications for interpreting the law.

He has the key qualification of a propagandist: he can talk out of his ass with such assertiveness that people believe him.

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James is encouraging New Yorkers to submit videos or other documentation of federal immigration enforcement actions in New York following yesterday’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on Canal Street in New York City.

“Every New Yorker has the right to live without fear or intimidation,” said Attorney General James. “If you witnessed and documented ICE activity yesterday, I urge you to share that footage with my office. We are committed to reviewing these reports and assessing any violations of law. No one should be subject to unlawful questioning, detention, or intimidation.”

Attorney General James is asking New Yorkers to share photos or videos of federal government actions using the Office of the Attorney General’s new online portal.

A thing you can pay for with SNAP is vegetable seeds (maybe seedlings too? can't remember). So there are people on SNAP already growing _some_ of their own food. But no SNAP means no seeds.

And now they have to buy food which means they have even less money for seeds and other plant stuff.

ICE is only one of the many vegetable scraps and other detritus tossed in the federal compost bin that is DHS with the expectation that they told turn into something useful. But you have to tend compost, turn out regularly, pull out fetid bits. Otherwise it rots without oxygen. And attracts pests.

This is not a question of a few bad apples. ICE is a bag of lemons forgotten on the porch months ago, shrunken, dehydrated, discolored, moldering, and covered in fruit flies.

But Bluesky not having a black box algorithm that decides what you get to see, and that can be intentionally adjusted to hide or highlight things, is one of the things that's really good

I have a pretty decent number of 'fun' experiences on Bluesky. It's fewer than I'd like but the combination of SO MUCH AWFUL right now and the lack of an algorithm to rearrange my default feed and highlight some things means that the fun stuff often gets buried 7 hours ago in the timeline.

The worst is that most of the commercial media won't describe it accurately. "Too vulgar." Well then tell your viewers and readers that it was so offensively vulgar you can't show it or even describe it. "Too vulgar" is a lie. The truth is the commercial media wants you to forget it by Tuesday.
