It’s time for a politics, free of vested interests, free of dogma, free of corruption, free of populist easy answers to complicated questions. A politics which puts justice, the individual and the community ahead of narrow self interest. A politics based on evidence, rationality and compassion. Now!

Elon Musk is stoking far-right extremism on our streets.

The Prime Minister should order a security assessment of the threat Musk poses to our democracy.

Ruth Curtice explains why tax rises are needed (tl;dw: to avoid more expensive borrowing).

This will need to be done carefully though, to avoid damaging growth, raising inflation or hitting households struggling most with the cost of living.

It’s time for the @libdems.org.uk to stop being timid about Brexit and start saying what they really believe. Millions are waiting for their lead.

We go live to the Labour party and Brexit...

(Their idea to blame forthcoming tax rises on Farage and Brexit is bonkers while they simultaneously continue to maintain their Brexit red lines and to claim that they can Make Brexit Work.)

“There is no doubting that the impact of Brexit is severe and long-lasting." Says Rachel Reeves. It’s become convenient for the Chancellor to tell the truth about Brexit, at long last…

We still have a lot of work to do to deliver the two-state solution that will finally allow Israeli and Palestinian children – both – to grow up free of this cycle of violence.

But at least today, that work can finally begin. And that should give us all hope.

I can’t see there being a lasting peace and a two state solution until there’s a leadership on both sides who want it. Hamas and the Israeli government are not capable of the imaginative thinking and compromise necessary unfortunately.

But if Brexit is the problem, what are they going to do about it?

As so often, @laylamoran.bsky.social finds gracious, unifying words.

"I choose to believe that peace is possible. Everyone who went on a protest, wrote to their MP, cares about it, shouted at their TV - from whatever point of view - what were those deaths for, if not for a sustainable peace?" ~AA

Pope Leo quotes Hannah Arendt:

BBC News's John Simpson hitting the nail on the head:

"What this doesn't do in any way is sort out the Palestinian question"

"What it does is stop the agony that people in Gaza have been suffering for two years"

"But it doesn't create a future path for them"

"Maybe that can come"

There are plenty of reasons why. EU funding plus currency independence; thriving tech and defence sectors; lower taxes for young Poles so less brain drain, etc.

But Poland also has a very different attitude to building things.

12 out of 17 Polish regions are now richer than West Wales. It has faster internet, cheaper electricity and more high speed rail than Britain

When it comes to regional development it’s the UK, not Poland, that needs to catch up
