So true!! Thankfully I had the phone numbers for friends that knew this person and I was able to call them so no one else in the group fell for the hacker. A lot of them were already talking to that person but hadn’t received the link just yet.

But looking back, some pieces seemed off with how they communicated. I had asked if this was a project they had mentioned to a friend in a group and the person blew over it. Sadly it wasn’t until the very end that my fiancé and I learned our friends account had been compromised & we were hacked

So for this one, I have a friend that is a game developer that has been working on projects. When I received the dm from them, they were asking for help and hoping to get honest feedback for a project they were working on. So up until this point I had zero alarm bells going off

I think this one was a separate hack that from what I’ve been hearing is targeting gaming developers. It was for something called The Cakeblide Game.

Here is a screenshot of what I received minus the rest of the message for privacy purposes. But definitely ignore anything that looks like this

Thanks to a few kind people (names left out due to privacy), I was able to get access back to my email today. My anxiety was through the roof and the help I received was so kind and helpful.
