That's mainly when I've gotten them too. They flood niche markets with AI slop so when grandma is looking for a specific type of shirt, they run into it.

Same here. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I've seen AI start creeping into the anime fandom scene, and if it poisons the furry fandoms well, it could kill the fandom.

I hate to tell my mother to return them and get her money back, but I'd be embarrassed to wear these. I'm sad that she fell for this con. She loves "supporting artists" but can't tell real art from AI, which hurts to see. It's not the first time this has happened to her unfortunately.

My folks are so sweet and supportive, so it breaks my heart even more when they try to gift me AI generated shirts. With AI getting more and more convincing, it's important to know what to look for to avoid getting scammed.

House of Leaves is one of those books that's like a maze within itself, so I don't blame you. A friend of mine gifted me it's companion short "The Whalestoe Letters" first and it was a good sample to see if you're into that sort of writing.
