Just as he hinted to me back in May, Louis Meintjes will retire after Il Lombardia.

Spoke to Louis Meintjes today on the eve of the Giro d'Italia, his 19th Grand Tour, possibly his last.

He told me about considering retirement, passing experience onto young riders and targeting the Giro's final week.
