Purely anecdotal but I think Proton Drive is noticeably faster than OneDrive.

this is probably very well-known and I'm two decades late but I started hitting my boyfriend's leg like "honey honey stop the movie, I need you to screencap that!!"

Sure, they are important as I concede; but I'm thinking specifically of the mindset that precludes other interests.

Hey random question, does anyone else continually scream while they sleep? If so, did you find a way to control it?

More to the point, our institutions are so inimical to citizen participation in our own government that we cannot really predict what the outcome would actually be if we could vote for, say, designer vaginas. All I can say for sure is that under our system, only the elites can choose any of this.

Maybe that means mild social democracy or maybe it means that the Senate, originally gerrymandered explicitly to preserve slavery with the Missouri compromise, isn't a legitimate institution we should preserve. Same for the court. What would be the outcome of that?

Drennen is half right to notice the tension between a lack of democracy and queer flourishing, but she fails to understand how the current system is clearly, *already* the state of affairs she wants to avoid.

By all means, do electoralism, but for fucks sake, please have some plausible goals.

Meanwhile in the United States we suffer under a system that

1. Does not pay for healthcare, and yet
2. Uses central authority to prohibit or discourage care such as HRT, PrEP, contraceptive care, or even vaccination.

There's an understated tendency within liberalism to convince people that queerness can only flourish under liberal democracy & center left politics-- or more specifically, under NATO countries and not what respectable people see as backwards.

Are women bourgeois?

Transsexualism as we conceive of it in America is bourgeois, the product of a society that venerates the freedom of an individual to choose. There is no designer vagina under communism, I'm sorry.

Yeah, there definitely is. I mean things might matter *to me* and the people around me, but at the end of the day it's unhealthy to convince myself that it matters beyond that.
girlfriend.bsky.social
Wouldn't it be a relief for nothing to matter, to never worry your actions to have any particular consequence on the world, for good or ill?
girlfriend.bsky.social
One reason some people talk about politics so much is that we've devalued mundanity. Everything has to *matter*, we put so much pressure on people to work toward something, but this is unrealistic. So some people lean into politics, the apparent tide of history. What could matter more?

"payment processors coming down on adult games in a desperate attempt to prop up AI investment" sounds like it should be the plotline of a modern "The Producers" and yet here we are.

I find an unquiet comfort in the not quite roar but not quite peace of the metro north to and from NYC. Not enough to forgo active noise cancellation, but still.

Newsom vetoing improved access to prep for expense reasons is wild.

Do you think it is more expensive to prevent HIV than treat it? What a fascinating mind. Reaganesque, you might say.

Well it's at least written in a language that is spoken by living humans, the bar here is pretty low

Attempting to read finnegans wake was probably the most debilitating thing I could have possibly done to my hopes to become a fiction writer.

Any famous book without a cohesive plot is amazing for the first 50 pages and nobody remembers what comes after that anyway.
