Fun fact: fossil fuels cause Earth's habitat to overheat and shut down whether the fossil fuels come from a democracy or whether they come from a dictatorship

We're not going to have many democracies left if we keep choosing to tear the fucking wires out of life support systems

Yesterday, I passed this small patch that had somehow escaped the ubiquitous ryegrass and sheep/cattle treatment.

It stood out like a flashing neon light, thronged with wildflowers, native trees, flying insects, and birds. Nature's only way of crying out to just be given a chance.

As I recall, three parties agreed an ambitious climate and nature PfG in the last government and all but a few members of Dáil Éireann voted in favour of the EU Nature Restoration Law.

Why then would we even want to remove internationally binding climate 'rules'? Poor show Business Post.
It will be a source of great pride for many Greens that the CEO of an oil and gas lobby group is lashing out at the lasting impact of our policies.

"The Greens may be gone from cabinet, but their roots are still woven through the ground". Beautiful words. Thank you, Mandy.

John’s been closely following Ireland’s response to the climate emergency for decades, and he has kept ALL the receipts.

I got a sneak preview of this book. I thought I couldn’t be shocked anymore, but my jaw is constantly dropping.

Out September 4th.
Delighted to announce that my first book, THE LIE OF THE LAND, is due for publication on September 4th next via @penguinrandomhouse.bsky.social.

It's a frank assessment of Ireland and the #Climate emergency, with a roadmap towards a more food and energy-secure future.

The UK has only one land border, the one with Ireland. Despite this, UK media enjoys being ignorant about Ireland. I haven’t read this as it’s too early in the century to flambé my brain with stupidity. So just from this screen shot - the terrorists were in this case, British! …

The latest episode of Weathered is really important to watch.

This episode discusses the alarming rates of ground water being depleted - and is used for a large portion of farming irrigation globally.

The number and variety of butterflies this summer is brilliant to see. Hopefully, it is a sign that we have not destroyed their habitats. Of course the weather in the spring and summer are probably part of the reason.

🧵 Another beautiful day in Leitrim. This is a marina in the West of Ireland where skies & water bloom with clouds & azure blue.

Such colours are a part of my work, suggesting the infinite & the heavens, as you can see in this thread of my one-off ink on archival paper drawings:

My thoughts on how billionaires like Dermot Desmond and Michael O’Leary hold unbalanced power through unrestricted access to the media despite having no expertise in transport or urban planning.

It’s not a coincidence. It’s capitalism at work.

One thing that will never, ever disappoint is delusional power of economists in imagining that the worst we have to worry about in next 2 decades is a "disappointing" rate of economic growth.

Even funnier, this guy used to chair Ireland's national #climate advisory council.

CCAC is supposed to be independent #climate advisory group to gov't in Ireland, yet it endorses BS livestock industry efforts to dodge methane cuts.

Fun fact: Expert review advised that Teagasc (dominated by dairy farmers) be removed from CCAC as it's biased.

This is not what we should accept as "normal'. We need to put the brakes on making the effects of climate change even worse. This is on our leaders to take action on both nationally & globally. Normalizing climate change does not make it more acceptable
