Platner’s actions are an embarrassment to our state on the national stage. He has no qualification whatsoever to run for this seat and a US Senate race is not the place to grow up.

I resigned from the campaign when his comments blaming women for their own sexual assault were brought to light by the Washington Post. Comments he made when he was a 29 year-old bartender. That was a hard line for me.

We should not be having a debate about Nazi symbolism tattooed on the potentially top ticket Democrat in Maine. The fact we are even willing to entertain it shows desperation within the Party, not dedication, and how far we have fallen from rational thought.

Platner is not a victim of opposition research. This is what happens when you run for federal office. People scrutinize everything you’ve ever done. Every word and every action. Accountability does not exist in playing the victim of your own behavior.

I am a proud Maine Democrat and I have served our state for 20 years. As an advocate for our commercial fisheries and as former member of the Maine House. I have spent the past three years as a senior policy advisor at one of Maine’s top government relation firms.

Graham Platner’s campaign thought they could silence me by offering me money and calling me a liar in the press.

I was going to let it go.

It has become increasingly clear they are unfamiliar with Maine women.
