Urban wildlife of south east London
A Henry Hoover sans nozzle contemplating freedom on the streets of south east London
About ten years ago we looked into living in Anerley/Penge/CP/Croydon/South Norwood and it was just too expensive for us. SN was pretty bleak then too but looks like its improved a lot since then. We ended up in Lee...
Oh and for something a bit different try Bishops Wine Bar. It's kind of like being in someone's front room but it has a bar in the middle of it. And a a cat. And its at the bottom of an office block opposite a dying shopping centre. Great for people watching.
For the real Croydon pub experience drink a pint under the flyover in the front garden of The Royal Standard. Or go visit the pub cats at The Oval.
Will you be going inside Sanderson's? I really want to see the stained glass!

our little zine about gaming through a punk lens
We had one of these, reheated fish in the microwave so often he got himself a nickname: The Fishmonger
Free exhibition showing the work of Isabel & Alfredo Aquilizan at the new Ames Yavuz gallery in London.
Expansive miniature cardboard city attached to a white wall. Close up of recycled cardboard used to form a miniature housing complex.
Test Pressing Wednesday!

Free exhibition at Pi Artworks, London. Matt Golden/Golden Family: Thirty-Three Revolutions.
Various drums and cymbals, assembled into a procession of anthropomorphised musicians. More drum skins and percussion instruments assembled to look like they have a face. Close up of a drum 'musician'.
If you are near Folkestone do pop in Aimee Craddock's boutique, 25 The Old High St. I have some ceramics on show and for sale.
The shop window of Aimee Craddock's boutique in Folkestone, featuring my ceramic vessels, some Noguchi paper lamps and a midcentury Japanese chair. Two ceramic vessels inspired by modernist architecture in blue, ochre, coral and gold glaze. Three abstract hanging wall sculptures in blue, coral, ochre and black.
Really interesting read, my ex partner is from Peterlee and I remember visiting some of the old colliery villages maybe 20 years ago. They were pretty sad looking then, but seeing them in this state, is very depressing.
Sneaking up on cats instead of making art down the studio
Black cat sat behind some old metal drums and plastic trays, facial expression declares 'do not step any closer buddy.' Grey and white cat sat at the top of some stairs, facial expression declares 'do not step any closer pal.' Scrappy black and white cat, total bruiser, facial expression declares 'you want some?'
Just been summoned for the 3rd time. They seem to come for me once every decade.

Although I've never been selected, only ever sat around bleak waiting rooms for hours on end...

New London Clay record coming soon...
London Clay logo featuring three tower blocks in black and white.
Something pretty exciting happened, the London Clay record is being released by La Vida Es Un Mus. No release date yet but things are moving....
Private view round-up, recommend these free exhibitions if you are in London over the coming weeks #kimyunshin #ellakruglyanskaya #dominicbeattie
Ella Kruglyanskaya at Thomas Dane - contemporary painting of a woman in pink broad strokes against a dark background, sitting on a striped monochrome cushion, with a broken lute and two apples. The woman sits away from the viewer, her head turned to the left, her blue eyes peek out under her black bob. Kim Yun Shin at Lehmann Maupin/No 9 Cork Street - a strong geometric painting in bold shades of green/blue/red/yellow. The pattern features squares, lines and diamonds, reminiscent of trellis and tower blocks. A wooden sculpture sits in the foreground, like short angular tree trunks, hand carved and engraved with more geometric patterns. Dominic Beattie at Saatchi Gallery - a large contemporary work in green/pink/lilac/purple/black/yellow. The background is a glitchy geometric pattern or recurring rectangles and squares. Eight bright yellow circles are scattered across the painting.
