Just finished this book that I purchased at its launch last week.

Criminal Justice in Scotland, written by Jamie Buchan, Sarah Anderson, and Katrina Morrison of the SCCJR. A brilliant wee textbook that will be of great use for undergraduate students in particular. One for your criminology classes!
The new gaff for the next four years.
Brilliant presentation today in class. Really proud of the students. Looking forward to the rest of them across the next few weeks.
Yeah, they've just totally snatched mine. Changed the email and name and now it's like it never existed. Ah well. Hope it helps them out a wee bit. I have another four year to build it up now until my next job. 😆
I think what they do is take the accounts then sell them, or use them to promote these buy-for-followers schemes.

I hope it's that at least. Otherwise they're going to be pretty bored looking through work-related jargon and mundane networking messages all evening. 😆
Someone decided to hack my @linkedin.com account. So, if you don't see me on there anymore, then that's why. Hearing this more often now, especially with larger accounts. Not completely bothered, just annoying they've done it now after years of building up contacts.
That's no worries, Steph. If there's ever anything I can help with then I will be happy to share/promote.
Thesis in. Viva 16th December.

Four years of pure drama - little of which involved the research itself. I just hope I've done my participants, and my class proud.

Thanks, Heidi. Looking forward to getting going.
Thanks, Brian. Hope you're keeping well big man.
Thanks, brother. Hope you and the family are well.
Thanks, sister. Really didn't see it coming so today's been quite overwhelming. So excited about it though.
I'm most excited because this is the reason I came to academia - because of what can be done.

It's not just research, but about real material change, policies, inspiring solidarity, carving spaces for the empowerment of the people. Co-production, co-ownership. Community action!

Exciting!
Got the call today to say that I've bagged the Research Fellow role at Queen's University, Belfast.

A four-year place-based research and policy project that involves working in and with working-class communities across multiple sites in Ireland, Scotland, and England.

Bit of an emotional day.

Fantastic series.

Great story, but given that I wasn't too familiar with the Yakuza prior to this, the symbolism and the rituals throughout, however limited they are, gives the show another layer - very well done. After this, I plan to read a lot more about them; really fascinating.

Recommend.
To my students from last term, I'll be doing politics and history again this semester. The module handbooks should be available now, so if you want to get a head start, you've got a week before classes begin. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Let's step it up this year.✌️
Always, mate. My local.
The essay was largely theoretical, but I believe also easily measurable when using the correct methods – some of which I've briefly applied in my thesis – and tools for analysis I've utilised in recent outputs.

If you can assist me here or support in some way, please let me know. Thanks.
Do any of my friends or colleagues here have any experience of Leverhume Trust proposals for early career researchers?

I have written an in-depth proposal that is linked to my intergenerational psychosocial work, and it would be seeking to provide a material basis for the essay I wrote last year.

Not enough of this is being done. It's time for new emphasis, and new people employing these tactics which have been obvious to so many, for so long!

Rest in Peace to this young lad, John. We need to do our best to ensure it is not a life lost without action, and care for the future.
Paid mentoring roles in the schemes, more emphasis on the poverty which allows it to develop, attention to (sub)cultural norms which perptuate these behaviours that are by no means exclusive to young people, and emphasis on private companies who sell weapons while facing no threat of penalisation.
