PIGFACE is no boomer shooter with a focus on hand-crafted levels and enemy placement; it is all about finding your own fun in janky sandbox environments reminiscent of the early Hitman games.

Like a first-person Hitman mod from the early 2000s.

Fans of the Atelier series will love Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and The White Guardian, while those looking for a new RPG series to dive into can do no wrong by starting with this stunning gem.

Yooka-Replaylee's improved visuals, camera, and controls are significant updates, but it is still hard to recommend to all but the most die-hard 3D platformer fans when better options are available.

Castle of Heart: Retold is a solid remake/remaster that focuses on fixing (most of) the original release's problems, while bringing back old-school action-platformer difficulty.

The console port of Frostpunk 2 is still an excellent and engrossing survival/management city-builder, but the awkward and sometimes frustrating controls need more refinement.

Awkward controls mar an otherwise excellent and engrossing survival city-builder.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition still holds up today as the original built upon early attempts and came to define the squad-based RTS genre (even if the campaigns and PvP cater to entirely different audiences).

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a fun, addictive, and well-designed spin-off that could do with a little more variety in environments and bosses.

Space Adventure Cobra - The Awakening is not only a rare videogame adaptation that does the source material proud, it also managed to rekindle my interest in an IP I've not thought about in ages.

Turbo Kid is a case of the stars aligning to buck the trend of poor movie tie-in adaptations. Addictive, impressive, and a whole heap of fun that kept me hooked from the opening to the finale.

Caput Mortum combines diverse puzzle and monster encounters with retro-inspired aesthetics (and a retro control scheme for those who want it) to craft a well-paced descent into madness.

Dead of Darkness feels like a ‘80’s direct-to-VHS pulp horror that you would watch on repeat with your mates and discuss for years to come despite not being that good.

Heartworm is a compact homage to survival- and psychological-horror classics, but also another game in the genre that might broaden the audience by tempering the horror with more heart.

Delayed but here is our video review for the Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition on Xbox Series S|X. Still worth playing if a modern FF game means cinematic-heavy and action-oriented to you (and a reminder that exclusivity deals for the last three generations has nothing to do with technology).
Xbox fans can finally enjoy Final Fantasy XVI, a sequel that captures the spirit of the classic games with a strong story and great characters, while the spectacular boss battles and pyrotechnic visuals are the icing on a particularly wonderful action-RPG cake.

Sea of Stars felt authentic to me in all the right ways. It recreates the look, sound, and storytelling techniques of 16-bit era JRPGs, but modernises the gameplay to ditch the tedious elements of the genre.
