Book 18 is down. This is way more specialized than The Monsters Know What They’re Doing, but I found that even the parts that didn’t immediately apply to my builds helped reframe my thinking. #booklist #readinglist #dnd
Spirit Halloween is out here helping people dabble in fur suits, and I frankly love that for them

Government and police buildings are being set on fire after Indonesian police forces killed a protester by running him over with an armored vehicle.
Book 17 complete! I can honestly say that this book took a hated character from the previous one, and made me love them and feel a bitter kind of relief at their death. Also the toxic edge kink was a welcome if unexpected sub (heh) plot.

Here we go again …
Once again, an entire month to read Adrian Tchaikovsky.

The nuance and subtlety that this books treats micro-aggressions and cultural erasure/homogenizing with feels personal. I was shocked when I realized that, like everyone else, I had forgotten Maric Jack’s real name.

This one took a whole month.

Adrian Tchaikovsky is an author that will give you density above all else, and this was no exception. I can see it not being for everyone, but I had a really great time with this

After 12 books of deep genre fiction, heavy theory, and intense societal commentary, a light and heartfelt epistolary love story was exactly what I needed. This book was wonderful

What can I say? @xiranjayzhao.bsky.social continues to create an unhinged combo of revolutionary political drama, mech fantasy, and wild sci-fi grounded in a culture I don’t get to read enough of. Go read their books.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

Next books finished as a set.

These are a campaign setting and adventure module for 5E D&D, and the best part is it’s a non-western writing perspective of the period between the second and third Crusades. It’s definitely more horror than fun fantasy.

Book 9 is a complete change of pace: a novel written to exemplify a manufacturing management theory.

The wildest thing about it is that it was written in 1984, and makes intuitive sense. No one uses it because it doesn’t want you to micromanage

Now that I’ve completed a Year of Warhammer, I have some thoughts on The Horus Heresy and The Siege of Terra.

Book 8 complete.

I have officially completed The Siege of Terra. I’ll have more thoughts about Warhammer and the broader Heresy later, but short version: Dan Abnett caps things off brilliantly.

7th book of 2025 is done.

This book doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, it boots you off the edge and leaves you suspended in that first moment of terrifying weightlessness.

I’m going to have a lot of thoughts about Warhammer lore later.

Book 6 complete …? Part 1 at least.

I’ve been looking forward to this since I started the Siege. Dan Abnett is spooling up to hit the climactic peak we all knew this series would reach, and I’m deeply enjoying the slow slide off the cliff.

Book 5 done, and holy shit did it not disappoint.

Aaron Dembski Bowden knows how to write time-dilated action, as well as deep emotional moments. The vignettes of especially Land breaking on the frontlines were fantastic.
