On the other hand, the speed up function in battle was very handy. Combat in this game is very basic and mindless, so it was nice to just breeze through it. Don't know if I would have bothered to play the game without it, as the gameplay wasn't really that interesting.

I also feel like I did the game a disservice by playing the Remaster. Visually it looks very bland compared to the original. Worse character portraits, bland UI, and not to disrespect RPG Maker but a lot of areas looks like default RPG Maker assets.
But that's modern RPG remasters for you, I suppose

Suikoden 1 finished. It was fine, I enjoyed it enough.
It's a charming game, but I was bothered by how it barely ever let me have full control of my party setup. 1-4 characters would always force themselves into my party and not let me use all the characters I actually wanted.
