Really excited to share my recent work on methodology of analysing academic publishing from a world-system perspective!
On Thursday at 14:00 CET we will have another seminar! Franek will talk about „Developing Oligopolies Through Hegemonic Cycles” - so how can we apply methods developed by Wallerstein and Arrighi to analyse the rise of the oligopoly of academic publishers described by @lariviev.bsky.social ?

Despite the J.D. Bernal Prize in #STS, his pioneering works often go unrecognized. We believe his insights into the collective nature of science remain profoundly relevant. We started a series of seminars discussing in-depth Bernal's "Social function of science"! @kszadkowski.bsky.social
Haha great! I just revised the paper on the topic, if it will be accepted I will also share for sure!
Thank you! Yes, definitely. I hope I also will be able to help somehow with organising!
My postdoc in Trinity is starting!

("Freeze rent" graffiti in the background - very relatable after a stressful search for a place to live)

The division on center & periphery of HE is often criticized. However, did you know that often this discussion conflates two radically different theoretical traditions?

@franekkra.bsky.social is starting in March project at @tcddublin.bsky.social to explore this
