Dohoho, lore dump time: the vanilla-garlic-(+onion!) scent isn't a full-body odor, it's what their breath smells like right after eating, as that's what realworld brains (and/or the preservatives used on them, lol) supposedly smell like. But Moss uses Bluestars perfume to hide that when needed:

No.

Moss might run head-first into sacrificing themselves, but their beloved? Absolutely not. He's suffered enough betrayals over the years. They'd sooner commit to spending the rest of their life exhausting every other possibility in trying to save the world than ever consider that one.

Eek! Moss is absolutely a squeaker.

Granted, it *is* hard to sneak up on them, being illithid, but if they're focused real hard on something like pruning their plants or brewing a complex new potion... that wet, fishy gurgle of a gasp sure is something to behold.
(They're shy about it.)
