It does indeed! I think it’s just my mum instincts coming out

I hope they’re having an amazing time, and that their ankles aren’t chilly

In fairness, the cat did that to somebody else's book (ie yours), and Nick does say you need to treat other people's books with care...

I feel like you might have had more luck with those: as long as they're fit for use and safe, I'm sure the dogs appreciated them!

I'm sure they do. My point is more that they have enough to do without well-meaning people giving them bags of what is essentially rubbish to throw out. In the same way, you shouldn't be giving them torn, dirty clothes or broken plates.

You're absolutely right, and tbh the same applies to the veneration of second hand books. Yes, they may be worthy of being passed on, and they may well find new readers. But libraries and second hand bookshops don't want any old trash *just because it's a book*. It's perfectly fine to recycle them.

I’d suggest you start singing, to give the full effect, but I realise they might not be so understanding

A collage of the bright yellow cover of my book ‘MANDALAY: Recipes & Tales from a Burmese Kitchen’, me in a burgundy ‘Original Beef of Chicagoland’ T-shirt (from the tv show The Bear), holding a plate full of Tokyo Disneyland cakes, the poster for the SE London BookFest, and the area around Corner Corner (between Canada Water and Surrey Quays) which is where our panel will be.

They did indeed: all the novels which came out in monthly parts had, IIRC, two illustrations per part. It was only books like Hard Times and Great Expectations (which originally came out in weekly magazine serials) that didn’t have illustrations.

I hope they were planning to get Declan a really thoughtful gift.

This too shall pass, I promise. My two barely ever gnaw on tables any more

You can buy lead testing kits, I think: you swab the item with a cotton bud, and it changes colour in the presence of lead. Might be worth looking for one?

You’re doing a great job: dal ati!

Happy Columbo’s Day
Screenshot from Columbo. He his talking to his dog, which is sitting is the drivers seat of a car. “Okay, I’m gonna put you in charge. You take care of the car. You’re a responsible dog. When I get back, if the car’s okay, I’ll give you another cookie.” “If the car’s gone,” “I’ll give you another cookie anyway” “because I love you.”

Honestly, I think if you can do Sylfaen, you can do Canolradd for sure. There’s not much of a jump in terms of grammar: it’s basically more vocab and more speaking.

No, I’m online. Although I’ve been to a Sadwrn Siarad at St Cyres before!

Ah, Robin Radio! He’s always popping up. I’m in Uwch 1, but I’m a bit worried I’m not ready for it: I keep forgetting words…

Did someone in your class go off on a tangent about Chinese cooking when she was supposed to be saying whether rates of veganism would have increased in Wales in the next 100 years?
florilegia.bsky.social
I think I may have over-answered the question! (On which note, are you in my class?)

Me neither: the number is still firmly stuck in my head. It was a toss up between that and 4291, to be honest
