showed up for half an hour and transit workers showed up to help out because she was at a bus stop. again nothing to do w fare inspection. and when i finally took the bus they almost didn't let me on even tho they all heard abt what was happening thru comms. SORRY I WAS TOLD NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING

i would rather have 3 homeless guys taking a nap on the bus for 40 minutes than 3 'safety officers' i will say the only time they were helpful had nothing to do with the bus at all. a girl got maced and ran up to me and i had to help her bcuz no one else would and the police and ambulances never

being stranded or late bcuz you know yr bus is just around the corner. also after cutting a shit ton of routes and late night buses they also tried to shorten the transfers which they extended back to normal. so all these choices make everything infinitely more unsafe. then they increase police $ 🙄

so the biggest issue with my city's transit is that it's not frequent enuf and always late and always crowded. sometimes it's dangerous (like any other city) but thing that would make it safer is giving the person causing problems bus fair and asking them to get off OR being able to get off without

i had an entirely sardine'd 40 min bus ride and they took up so much damn space in their bulky ass uniforms, 3 of them, and they would get out just to question every single person about their bus fare. they're technically 'safety officers' but they ain't keeping anyone safe.

A favorite of the Golden Age of Illustration, Dulac was one of the few artists with technical skill to rival the likes of Arthur Rackham and Beatrix Potter. His twilight soaked imagery is dreamlike and otherworldly.🧵

The Hearth (9/21)

A comic page with two large main splash panels separated by a series of much smaller panels. The smaller panels alternate between illustrations of the plants on which different western russian/northeastern finnish plant remedies are based and close up shots of a kettle, a boiling pot full of rags, a hand wrapping a rag around a stick, a bouquet of dried flowers, a mug, a knife cutting fabric, a mortar and pestle crushing herbs, an arm with an arrow wound.

The first large panel is mostly blue, and shows a woman in a skirt (Marika) dragging another woman (Ása) on a sled through the snowy forest toward a cabin. The second large panel shows Marika, a blonde woman with short hair, dressing Ása’s wound with a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

The Hearth (2/21)

The front door is open, which is casting a bright light on a note on the table in the middle of the cabin, which is next to a russian/finnish stove and in front of a ryijy tapestry. the cabin is empty of food and comforts. outside the cabin, we can see some wood piled. In the final panel, we see a cloaked woman walking away from the cabin, into a snowy forest.

The note reads, in a series of small inserts: Marika. I have gone south to hunt. There are three weeks’ rations in the larder. Should I fail to return, light the rotted wood from the bottom of the heap. Istrin will see the blank smoke and come riding. Whatever you do, do not leave the cabin.

new short story coming this winter 🖤 heavy on the leather

first page of a short story for Dark Spark Press' upcoming LEATHER & LACE anthology, ft. nour zipping up her leather dress, jack pulling on his leather gloves, blood being rinsed from tile, a smoking mosin nagant and a discharged casing. (there are no guns in the story however... just equally propulsive force.)
