But that's why I said I'm not defending anything else lol. Just the "whole map model loaded at all times".
We do know that early builds of ZA had way more detailed buildings, & the switch 2 could have probably handled it fine. So hopefully a game built for the Switch 2 should look a lot better.

Oh, I don't disagree at all. It could have probably been broken up into like 11 sections (outer/inner/center), with modestly higher poly counts per building, and kept the full map loaded but partially culled. Or kept a common building object asset loaded and placed everywhere to give windows depth.

It's one of the main reasons why Sc/Vi chugged so hard, and why Links awakening and echos of wisdom stutter and chug.
I don't know how the game runs on Switch 1, and I'm not saying it couldn't be done better, but streaming in high poly buildings would have tanked the performance on switch 1 worse.

I'm not defending anything else, but this specifically is a legitimate performance thing. Loading higher poly buildings on the fly would require asset streaming, and the switch *chugs* with asset streaming.

There's a Dratini that spawns on one of the roofs on the outside ring in bleu sector 9. I had a female one spawn first that I didn't want, but the very next one happened to be an male alpha one. Waiting to turn him into a chonky dragonite.
I still need to find a goomy myself, preferably an alpha.
