30 years ago, as a teenager, I for some reason devoted a lot of personal brain-sweat to problems in epistemology.

I had no idea that epistemology would, in my lifetime, become the contested terrain on which a mostly one-sided class war would be waged!

I think a change in journalistic discourse can only follow from a change in media ownership.

Right now it seems the main action in that realm is for the worse. But I’m trying to do my part by sending my measly subscription $ to independent outlets (TPM, 404, ProPublica, Assigned Media…).

I don’t intend to argue with your *experience*, but I use Mastodon all the time and I don’t get scolded, rarely discuss Linux, and have found community for my interests in jazz, social justice, urban planning, dumb puns, etc. So it isn’t *always* like that.
