Hiii 🔥 new profile pic we’re ready to go!
A screenshot of Firefox's Bluesky profile. At the top there's a purple banner with the number "20" celebrating Firefox's 20th anniversary. The profile picture is a red panda that is licking their nose.
we believe in giving you choice. you decide whether you want to use them or not. if you don't that's cool, don't opt in.

Thank you for the feedback David. It's important to note that these features are optional and local models are downloaded if the feature is used.

Skip it entirely if you want. We understand this won't please everyone but we strongly believe in giving people a choice in how they browse.

Interop 2026 is now open for proposals!

This is your chance to tell browser-makers which well-defined, well-tested features you wish had better support across browsers.

⬇️ Here's how ⬇️

Forget about tab > remember tab > close tab > regret closing tab > reopen tab with cmd/ctrl+shift+t > repeat
We got you 🔥

if you don't have at least 3 random beverages on your desk and 36+ open tabs with no memory of having opened them, are you even browsing?

We appreciate everyone's feedback here! It's important to note that these features are optional, off by default, and local models are downloaded if the feature is used.

This won't please everyone but we do want to provide more context into how we're approaching it.

We hear your concerns, and that’s why our approach is different. We run AI features on your device so data remains local, and you can remove downloaded models anytime.

We believe in giving consumers a choice: you decide if, and how you want to use AI.

The main point here is that we're very close to a duopoly with Google and Apple. Agreed, this isn't easy to explain so appreciate the community coming through with feedback.

We'll continue discussing this on our channels so we can keep the conversation going.

1. Chromium is used interchangeably with Blink (in fact, most people don't know what Blink is)

2. We were referring to Safari, which is part of Apple's closed ecosystem. But you're right.

3. Our independence enables innovation that Google wouldn’t fund on its own like ad blockers
Firefox @firefox.com · Aug 26
You're right. We were referring to Safari itself, which is part of Apple's ecosystem.

This is what we meant by ‘closed' and with limited flexibility. We posted an update in thread but appreciate you calling this out.

Safari itself is part of the Apple ecosystem, and that’s what we meant when we said ‘closed' and with limited flexibility. Appreciate those who are fairly pointing out that WebKit is open source.

Hm tell us why?
