Something underscored I didn't like about Latford's system was the idea that it was 5 points both for leading a lap and another 5 for leading the most.

Instead, my system has 2 points for qualifying on pole, 1 point for qualifying 2nd, 3 points for leading a lap and 5 points for leading the most.

Under Latford, 41st recieves 40 points. I've adjusted this to 25 points (my races have a max of 41 drivers), then 3 point increments (40th has 28 points, 39th has 31, etc.) 4 point increments from 11th to 6th and then 5 point increments from 5th to 2nd leave us with 155 points to 2nd. Winner: 190.

I am a perfectionist and I want to re-generate my HTML files because I have finally figured out the points system I'm using.

It is a modified version of the Latford system. One of the flaws of that system was that wins did not mean enough in it. After years of tinkering, I've found the solution.

Something I like to do in my free time is simulate NR2003 races/seasons. I'm up to 1952 after a couple of years doing it and I've decided to "come clean" and put it all on a Wordpress site, once I found out how affordable it is.

Over the next few days I'm going to slowly add results to it.

Also of note after thinking some more: you would think SVG was one of the most despised people among the fanbase considering Twitter and Facebook both melt down whenever he wins. Yet, here he is.

To compare, the service first launched in week one in August of 2023 with 1,132 races, per my original column on it at the time. It's now at 1,516 races if you include the pre-1985 uploads - a reasonably good progression for a completely free thing.

The first season in which every Cup race was televised in some form was the 1985 season. There have been 1,513 races since the start of that season, including points, Duels (as one total race for each pair), ASRs and Clashes.

They have uploaded 1,325, or 87.4%.

2015 is the first year that NASCAR started to do private livestreams of all Cup races and making them public later in the week. So that ASR is on there, some content manager just hasn't moved the fucking thing over to Classics yet and it drives me a bit crazy.

If you want to watch any of the five fatality races, they are on YouTube and have been for many years. I have no stomach for them personally but there are there on the tracker because they did exist and happen.

At some point this winter I will add NXS and Truck tabs as well.

I also included the 2004 Hendrick plane crash race as a "fatality" race, insomuch as I don't think NASCAR is ever going to upload it for obvious reasons and I don't want to penalize them for not doing so.

That number gets more impressive when you remember there are four races that they won't upload due to fatalities out of respect to the victims, and then odd races like 1997 spring Darlington which I believe isn't there because of Dale's medical incident early in the race.

Updating my NASCAR Classics tracker and the slow growth of the service continues. They quietly added the rest of the 2000 season, and not counting Vegas this past weekend, the last points race not on Classics currently is the fall Dover race in 2008. That's over 600 races there alone.

With Mercedes announcement confirming Antonelli and Russell next year, that leaves just that second Alpine seat left as far as silly season goes. A very desperate driver is going to end up there.

Crazy thing is, my understanding is that Ibushi is from money and has no real financial responsibility to still be wrestling.

That's right, the balcony diver spent over a decade killing himself just for the fun of it. But the body can only take so much and it shows now.
