Acts of discrimination like this one should result in some kind of punishment.

Either a lowering of their ranking or community service, so that their bigotry can be challenged.

My heart goes out to the family of the victim and I definitely agree with stopping parental rights if the person is involved in the 'killed a partner or ex-partner'.

However, suddenly stopping *ANYONE'S* benefits is always going to be a recipe for disaster.
