VOODOO probably has legit claim to best post-Marvin R&B record and BLACK MESSIAH was such a massive deal in my corner of the world. Ludicrous that he’s gone so soon.

Also, her delivery of, “In the middle?! We’ll only miss the titles. They’re in Swedish!” is burned into my brain as a rebuke to my own anal retentiveness about seeing “a picture exactly from the start to the finish.”

You’ll have to read it to find out.

Never do stuff like this, but if any editors I follow want to publish my funny, embarsssing story of meeting Marc Maron when I was 19 years old that easily doubles as a WTF remembrance, please get in touch. It has an arc and everything.

Oh I mean, plenty of greatness afterwards. But that early run is so special. TRUST is such a highlight.

First five records is some of the best music ever made.

Also, full applause break at “Mexican hairless,” which is appropriate and righteous.

Not that this needs to be said, but Leo absolutely nails the befuddled terror of receiving an unexpected phone call four hits into a joint. In college, I got a call from the cops after getting stoned and I think I literally said, “What the fuck? Who is this?”

Regret to inform everyone that, yes, it looks better on VistaVision and it’s worth rolling the dice on the finnicky tech.

We briefly spoke at the height of the pandemic about what we were doing, where we were from, and then we got down to important matters, i.e. THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW. Sincerely wish we did that more.

Kaleb Horton was the type of writer I always wanted to be. His stories were important. His life was important. I’m so, so sad that he’s gone.

No way. Breillat/Baumbach was death.

This is the exchange that just kills me every time.
fauxbeatpoet.bsky.social
The amount of times I’ve looked someone dead in the eye and said, “We both know there’s a better way, right?” and they go, “Yeah…”

I do, I know exactly what you’re referring to hahaha.

Utter lunacy! We solved the customer-waiter relationship *by talking*!

I should send you a bit by a very underrated comedian about how he scammed his local grocer by ringing up all of his groceries in the self-checkout as “bananas” for years.
fauxbeatpoet.bsky.social
I could not figure out the self-checkout at my local grocery, to the point where the *fourth time* I fucked it up I kinda broke down and the helper was like, “It’s okay,” and I just replied, “No, it’s not okay, it’s not okay that I can’t do this!” Anyway, they’ve shut it down for some reason.
