Conservative politics, at least in modern terms, is based very much on grievances and grudges. The Trump origin story seemingly dates back to a joke by Obama at the 2011 WHCD. The need to get even has taken over conservative ideology to the point the only way to "win" is by "owning the libs."

Shows how out of touch they actually are...too bad most of the media treats the MAGA movement as a majority movement instead of the extremists that they are.

Somewhere in the W Bush years the idea of selling out became fine. My intuition tells me it happened when YouTube, FB, and other social media sites made it cool to make everything about yourself and try to make as much money as possible for doing the least amount of work.
