I had no scientific reason to think so, but I'm utterly unsurprised that it's 90% vegan protein powder that's stuffed full of lead.

Sadly, the worst offenders are all vegan powders. So none of the usual suspects would touch them with a ten foot pole.

Luckily, mine doesn't appear to giving me cancer any time soon.

I know some pretty cheap to toss together cat shelters if she keeps not wanting to stay inside during the winter. I'm from Youngstown, so I know how much the weather can suck in the area.

That's how half my grandmas cats ended up at the house. Just sorta wandered up to the porch when the neighbors weren't treating them right.

I'm not qualified to diagnose in person, let alone on bsky, but that sounds a lot like my boy Gary. He was really, really sensitive to fleas and would break out in dry flaky scabs like that any time he would get even mildly bit. Poor baby.

I just wanted to get the gang back together as the world burned down around us.

But through that, I reconnected with my future wife, my best friend, and so many others who touched me during my life.

Without them, I'd still be alone in Youngstown, smoking too much weed and simply existing.

During the pandemic, I started a personal discord for my friends. We'd gotten older, grown apart in lifestyle and literal distance. And I missed them.

We've been friends for god damn near twenty years now. She's seen me at my worst and my best, once affectionately describing me as "A pit bull for my friends".

The hardest part when I lived in Seattle was the judgmental stares when I'd put Velveeta or something similar in my basket.
Don't get me wrong, I do NOT enjoy living in fairly red trump country. But it is nice to not feel looked down on by the cashier because you handed them hot pockets.

There's only so good a pope can be, given the dogma and doctrine of the gigantic organization he sits at the head of. And I was a little worried about Leo based on some of the politics I heard around the time he was chosen.

But this is directly in line with Francis, the best pope of my lifetime.

Leo questioned a world where the wealth of the elite grows
"exponentially" while many "millions of people die of hunger or survive in conditions unfit for human beings." He also criticized "ideologies that defend the absolute autonomy of the marketplace and financial speculation,"
with false promises "that a free-market economy will automatically solve the problem of poverty."

Leo described a "new tyranny," which shuns any kind of oversight and where the economy is structured "in such a way that sacrifices are demanded of the masses in order to serve the needs of the powerful." The poor, he wrote, are only allowed "drops that trickle down."

The pope openly challenged "prosperity theology" and called Christians to the practice of giving charity. "It will not solve the problem of world poverty, yet it must still be carried out, with intelligence, diligence and social responsibility," he wrote.

Popular movements that challenge "the empire of money," invite people to take on the cause to combat poverty alongside the poor, instead of on their behalf, and "make history," the pope said. It our duty, Leo said, to "make their voices heard, albeit in different ways, in order to point out and denounce such structural issues, even at the cost of appearing foolish or naïve."
