One of my favorite things about the Longman is that from Samhain he is in shadow. The sun doesn't reach him and he dozes through the winter, quietly keeping guard . On the Spring equinox the sun shines on him again and he awakes again to the warming light, to see a beautiful, blossoming spring.

Happy Imbolc! We picked fresh reeds, made Brigid's crosses, hung them above our doors, lit our Imbolc candle, lit from the eternal flame from Kildare, and left a Brat Bride for her to bless as she passes.

The Brigid's cross is a solar cross and is pre-christian in origin. It represents the life and energy of the sun. It features in designs across the ancient world.
Most pagans will know this.
The Christian cross does not have equal arm length or symmetry and looks totally different.
