Easily my favourite Sonic game from the Mega Drive era and if it weren't for Mania, my favourite classic-style game.

Now it's time to move on to either 3D Blast (and finally play it for longer than 15 mins lol) or try to do my best in Spinball and get past the first level :)

Upon replaying it, I noticed how easy the game is. There are few really tough spots and a somewhat competent player can rack up rings & extra lives easily. Towards the end, I had around 30 lives, minus ten I lost to the boss of Death Egg Zone (which is the only part of the game I'd call difficult).

Listening to Sonic OSTs together with a friend made me want to finish Sonic 3 & K again after a long while, and I gotta say, I forgot how well the game has held up. The controls are very smooth, the level design is sans a few minor issues well-made, and the music is obviously excellent!

Making it a point to go through every Sonic OST and honestly just enjoying the fact that it's inspired me to think about which characters would vibe with the experience that is Sonic music.

No wonder you didn‘t know, since I likely never mentioned this, but I do think that Hawlucha is one of the more memorable Pokemon from that gen. Cool design and an interesting dual typing.

Not much of a fan of its mega evo however. I think it leans too heavily into its wrestling theme for my liking

And then Pokemon Z never became a thing to expand on Kalos.

And then Sun & Moon came out which just left me really disappointed (It didn‘t even have a proper Victory Road for fuck‘s sake!), to the point I lost any interest in the newer games.

At least ORAS was a nice remake, I still like them.

Despite my more mixed thoughts of the game nowadays, I still remember having a good time with X & Y. It was fun having a mainline game in 3D, even with the lack of an extended post game, & was excited to see how Game Freak would build on its foundations for future games.

I also find the raster of new Pokemon to be somewhat
middling. There are a couple mons I really like (like Hawlucha, the Fire & Water starters, plus Meowstic, the best Psychic Type), but most of the mons I find to be kind of forgettable.

The presentation, region and new features like Mega Evolution were really cool, but I also noticed that the games were moving in a direction I didn‘t like. The games became way more handholdy and stripped down in terms of places to go, compared to the amount of optional locations of the old ones.

She may be a baddie, but she certainly is my kind of baddie, design-wise at the very least. Happy to see the fat fucking tits from the original drawing still being part of her final design. They‘re always a good addition.

Ramblings aside, I really like Maya, both in their female or male phases, and I'm pleasantly surprised how quickly she became a fully formed character, even if there is still plenty to be explored.

Now it's time for the other two OCs I've adopted to get fleshed out.
