I am a bit late to this world but I recently sort of stumbled into subscribing to a music streaming platform and now realise I can listen to an artist's entire catalogue in chronological order. As such I am now listening to the entire recorded works of... Lana Del Rey. It's a vibe for sure.
(Other people may know Christmas is coming because it's a fixed date that never changes and happens every year but you do you)
I know Christmas is coming because I've booked to see Carol in December
People really go hard on the dressing up at singalong screenings of Rocky Horror it turns out.
I have to assume that when a pub has its own monogrammed glasses that they spent a bit on the refurb.. Fair enough it's a fancy area.
Truly, day or night, the stretch of pavement between London Eye and the Houses of Parliament is cursed. What a deeply underwhelming bit of London walking, love to experience all the sights and sounds of tourist central.
I'm in a work meeting where someone is doing a demo and so far they are really banging on a lot about AI and though that doesn't make me feel good about them I predict the managers will love it.
Always love to visit a new cinema and Curzon Hoxton seems quite pleasant. Should have booked the front row for the recliner seats. Anyway, I am hopeful for Frankenstein. Been a while since I really loved a GdT film but the lad has talent.
Every month that goes by at one of my local shops creates more and greater visual delights.
I mean technically Upminster is in a London borough but spiritually my answer to this street sign telling me LONDON'S CLOSE would be, no it's not.
Studio Gauthier do please excuse me.
Turns out high end vegan chef Alexis Gautier has a more casual place called Studio Gautier near me. Much better value than some of the other places whose windows I peered through.
Is that the Awkwafina one? I assumed everyone quiz person must have watched it when it dropped. It's fun, yes!
Just had to swerve into the road to avoid a procession of wedding guests, bride and groom in front, parading down the street while a groomsman held up a speaker behind them blasting out "My Girl", like they were in some kind of godawful romcom. I somehow obscurely blame Richard Curtis for this.
There are SO MANY Michelin starred restaurants near where I work what even is going on, I'm sure there were just a couple when I last worked here. Anyway, leaving those for another week.
I ended up going to a fancy Mexican place in Mayfair with the name Fonda, which presumably means something in Spanish (but it also means an acting dynasty to me). Anyway it was nice food. I need to take it down to street food today or something a bit more affordable.
Went to see LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN, what a film... such expressive costumes, gorgeous photography, and Gene Tierney so good. Justice for Ellen though: she just wanted some alone time with her man and everyone was crowding her, unreasonably.
Right, I've had to come into the office today so time to start thinking about the important work things, like where I'm going to go for lunch
Kinda weird one to end on, The Fence, very stagy (based on a play to be fair). Oh well. That's that. Now to go see all the other festival films that have a proper release.
No I was trying Three Sheets, have been to the one in Dalston years ago...
Just waiting for my last film. It's by Claire Denis. I hope she's here to be cranky and weird at a Q&A but I feel like nobody is around to introduce films on the last weekend so probably not. Anyway looking forward to getting to spend some time at home next week.
I mean, yes, in my head it was of course ha ha
I think sometimes maybe I should get into going to fancy hotel bars, somewhere plush and comfortable, but then I also think I'd need to start being more stylish on the reg, maybe that can be life goals. That said I barely ever go out for a cocktail these days, might as well be special.
I was turned away from trendy cocktail bar (no drama they were just full... whatever) so I've just had to fall back on Swift, which, look, they can do a classic cocktail, no complaints.
