"Die Fledermaus" 4/10 at @theateranderwien.bsky.social is in the books. Can't wait to do it all again on Monday. - because life has to offer more than just academia, to keep me happy.
Thank you to Chen Lei for the wonderful picture ❤️
Picture of me, wearing a big, classic, purple ball gown, looking up, with a huge grey wig (Marge Simpson style) on my head. You see me three times in the picture, because it was taken in front of a curved mirror.

Just me? Ok...

Hello, New Semester!
And I get to start it off today with a new lecture that is very dear and close to my Heart!
So excited for this one at @univie.ac.at
Picture of the starting slide of a PowerPoint on my Computer screen. The title of the PowerPoint is "Exegese Neues Testament.
3 ECTS, Wintersemester 2026/26."
Below is a picture of a bunch of books related to Mary Magdalene.

I had the pleasure of a fun photoshoot with my talented friend& Photographer, Susanne Grunsky. We laughed a lot—and somehow she caught it all: the serious scholar, the warm smile, the spark of passion, and the book-nerd joy. A reminder that work (and life) has many faces!

As last presentation of #ArgeAss2025 Josef Pichler talks about homosocial constructions in the Gospel of Mark. Where and how do exclusively male groups interact with each other?

Back to New Testament topics. Kim Sölter talks about a scene in the markan passion narrative, where Jesus is being subjected to mockery. She asks which pictures of masculinity are being shown or also broken here?

Last night I got voted to be the new chair of the ArgeAss, our Austrian young biblical scholars network, with guests from Germany and Switzerland. ArgeAss has been an important network for me since my beginnings as a PhD student. I'm excited to help shape this network in the next years! #ArgeAss2025

For our last presentation today, Christine Rajic talks about women in the Gospel of Mark and how they interact with Jesus. I used to teach with Christine on exactly this topic (one of my favourite times of team-teaching!), and am very happy to hear her present on this!

Jana Hock and Lena Janneck now talk about the intersectional connections of discourse on masculinities between antisemitism and antifeminism. #ArgeAss2025

After Lunch we continue with a different, very practical and highly interesting topic. Christa Grünenfelder is working on a study, where she interviewed people between 75-91 that live in a nursing home in Switzerland, on their experiences with the bible.

Last presentation before Lunch is by Agnethe Siquans, professor for old testament studies in Vienna. She talks about how Daniel in the old Testament is often seen as Eunuch. (introduction into OT studies with Agnethe was my first ever theology class I attended many moons ago, btw) #ArgeAss2025

Lara Mayer from Trier talks with us about the term "Eunuch" and asks, on the Basis of the book of Ester, if the term always has to mean a castrate man, or if it could also be used to describe people of a third Gender, aside from male and female. #ArgeAss2025

Konrad Kremser takes us through Gen 1-5 and shows, how Adam isn't painted in as good a light in those chapters as some parts of later reception history make it seem.

Day 2 of #ArgeAss2025 starts with a presentation by Thomas Müller, one of my fantastic colleagues in Vienna. From him I learn about the different genders (yes, more than 2) that the Hebrew bible and rabbinic literature talk about and what that means for purity regulations in the context of cult.

One of my favourite conferences each year! #ArgeAss2025 is on it's way. Talking about masculinity studies, Gender and Queer Theory from a biblical perspective in Linz this year.
How wonderful, to see to many dear colleagues again! ❤️
