The Hard Times: Prison Diaries is finally out (link in bio). It is a book about crime, punishment, rehabilitation, greed, compassion, dignity, personal choice, and putting a newspaper to bed before the editorial team gets locked up for the night. Hope you like it.
262 prisoners released by mistake in 2024/2025. The British justice system is broken. Read all about it in The Hard Times: Prison Diaries available now in eBook and paperback (link in bio).
Amazing! The Hard Times (link in bio) seems to be reaching new readers this month without the aid of expensive Facebook ads. The word must be getting out - unlike most of the lads in HMP North Shore 🤣.
My best advice for aspiring authors. Leave your writing group. Unsubscribe from all those forums and online chats. Get sent to prison and do some real hard time.
Looking forward to seeing the movie adoptation of @stephenking.bsky.social's The Long Walk. Read it as a teenager - one of the first grown up books that really engaged me.
Really pleased to see the paperback doing so well. eBooks are great - but paperback sales make me feel like a proper author (I am a proper author).
From tiny acorns. Celebrating more than 200 copies of The Hard Times: Prison Diaries sold this year with an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 (70% of readers left a 5 or 4 star rating on Amazon). As an indie author, I'm pretty happy with these results. Start reading today for free on Amazon Unlimited.
If you are writting a book and plan to use Amazon's Virtual Voice system to create the audiobook version, DO NOT give one of your main characters a stammer. AI can't cope with speach impediments. I've learned the hard way. Might take a while to make this work.
You wouldn't believe how many people (who have never read my book) pitch me "professional services" to "boost" my sales everyday. You also wouldn't believe how many aspiring authors I know who have fallen for their lies. You want to sell more books - start by writing something people want to read.
I wrote the first draft of The Hard Times on a mobile phone, edited it on £150 Chromebook, designed and published it using freely available software, and people are buying it because (humble brag) its really quite good.
A quirky but entertaining review of The Hard Times: Prison Diaries (link in bio). With 5 stars attached - I'll take it 😁.
First terrible review just landed 😵. Kitty said it was awful and she couldn't wait to finish the book. But she did finish it. Makes me wonder why. Isn't life too short to finish reading "awful" books?
Always excited to find new readers for my very British prison novel in the United States (doing quite well over there), although I must admit to being a little anxious about the authentic language used. Does it translate?
What really goes on behind closed doors at HMP North Shore? Find out more in The Hard Times: Prison Diaries by Euan Taylor. Available now in print and eBook editions. Read for free on Kindle Unlimited.
Probably a case of being careful what you wish for - but looking at the Amazon sales rankings for The Salt Path - I'd love the negative press that the author Raynor Winn is currently getting.
Reviews for The Hard Times are coming in steadily now. 12 organic reviews (meaning I've not asked friends to spam Amazon) posted so far with an average score of 4.2 - I'm happy with that.
There is so much potential fraud on the Facebook app. Everyday, someone "new" contacts me from a private account with the same message about my author account breaching their terms and conditions and asking me to log-in and confirm my details. Born yesterday? Muppets!
Slow sales day (in fact been a slow couple of days). Is it the heat, or is reporting lagging due to Amazon Prime Day and the sheer volume of sales on the platform. Either way - every purchase and borrow is appreciated. Thank you.
Roll Call! Any recent readers of The Hard Times: Prison Diaries (link in bio) on BlueSky? Would love your feedback.
