it is ALWAYS worth pointing out who gets to be just a helpless little innocent precious baby boy at the age of 34, vs. who is framed by the cops as a big scary dangerous man whose candy bar might be a gun when he's barely in middle school, or described as a "13-year-old woman" by her predator

the misgendering of cis people should not really be used as a marker for femininity and masculinity, especially in regards to transmisogynistic reactions to transfem characters, but considering the amount of reactors who think Yuri is a man, I don't think it's an 'obvious' design choice by any means

Saw a review that did praise it for being an inherently queer story but the reviewer also said Yuri (to the left) looks feminine which was sending me. They don't strike me as particularly feminine at all, they just have a female seiyuu.
