So Jurassic Park is about a group of rich people who don't understand that biology is far more complicated than "there are only two genders" and how this ignorance toward gender fluidity in nature causes these rich people to lose their money and die.

And no shade intended for TresTiffany. I was merely trying to put TLoaS into a larger context.

For instance, there were around 6 different versions of Streisand's A STAR IS BORN. Different aspect ratios. 35mm and 70mm. Different sound formats as well. Mono. SVA. 4 track and 6 track mag, with and without Dolby NR. There was no definitive version.

Agreed. And come to think of it, my book (buy it in its paperback, hardback, and ebook variants today!) is basically the history of all of the stereo and surround sound variants for movies since the 1930s. There is rarely a definitive version, which is a frustrating concept. Which version to watch?
ericdienstfrey.bsky.social
True. But also I get it. There are a lot of exceptionally talented artists our there who aren't as fortunate. So she's become a symbol of how unfair capitalism is, especially when it comes to measuring the value of art.

Also, some Swifties are fucking crazy, and that drives anti-TS sentiments.

I was going to say happy meals, but yes, comic books are the better analogy for sure!

Are there people out there buying every version? I mean probably. But not many. Certainly not enough to explain the record's success. More likely people buy the original. Then if they like a song on the deluxe, they'll likely download that separately or buy the deluxe version at a later time.
ericdienstfrey.bsky.social
Not saying this is good, but this is how showbiz works now. And it's not just records. ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER had like 5 different versions.

And they charge a lot for the deluxe versions too. Here's the article on the high price for one of COWBOY CARTER'S variants.

Every major artist today (from Beyonce to Sabrina Carpenter) releases multiple versions of their records.

The main version. Several deluxe versions. Store-specific exclusives. Clean versions. Plus, the different formats (CD, digital, vinyl).

Most just download the songs digitally, though.

This is inherently unserious and completely shameless
ericdienstfrey.bsky.social
Yes. It eventually made sense. Insane!

Didn't want to watch DANCER IN THE DARK as well to make it s trilogy?
ericdienstfrey.bsky.social
Ah!!! I was way off, then.

I'm trying so hard to understand what you wrote, too.

Out 1 was the catching of the fly ball, yes?

Then the runner at home didn't tag back up with 3rd base, so Out 2?

I'm at a loss about Out 3.

(It's really not important. The world is on fire at the moment.)
ericdienstfrey.bsky.social
Seriously, can someone explain this to me without using the phrase "grounded out at home" because I don't know what that means.

Yeah, Annie Hall is a good movie. And I feel like everyone is dying to scream that sentence but can't.

How long before Taylor Swift buys Disney?

They aren't bad books, though. Just emotionally empty.
ericdienstfrey.bsky.social
Oddly, I agree with this clickbait list. The 00s were bad years for King, aside from his 3 DT books. I don't know the cause, but the core problem was that the tragic events had no emotional stakes. King's best books are exceptionally sad. You care so much for the families. These books? Not so much.
10 Worst Stephen King Books, Ranked
Stephen King is one of the best and most prolific authors of all time, but he has written a few misses over the years, like Cell and Lisey's Story.

Also... not nearly enough people have read the entirety of Proust's epic novel for it to be considered one of the greatest ever written.

Too many in the literary world adopt consensus takes as their own opinions.

And we haven't been addressing the trauma of it all. Those saying that the events traumatized them are widely attacked for being insensitive. Ms Rachel is attacked for crying for Palestinian kids. Jews are attacked for crying about the safety of hostages.

This war has made ALL of us less humane.
