This is Johnson saying the GOP Nazis had VIP tickets to Trump's inauguration. As proof there's no reason to be concerned about Nazis in the GOP.

What a time to be alive. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Q: Are you worried about extremist pro-Hitler sentiment among young Republicans?

JOHNSON: No. I don't know who any of these people are. I've never heard of them. Somebody posted a photo of me standing next to these guys wearing tuxedos. It was at the inauguration, people were coming up for selfies

🧵:

Last June, more than 5 million Americans joined #NoKings rallies across the country, protesting President Trump's authoritarianism. And this Saturday, with your help, it's going to be even bigger and better.

I really think we need to reconceptualize this shutdown as the last stand for the rule of law and Art I. Bring it to default if that’s what it takes. If Congress can’t assert the power of the purse, we are in “move to Portugal” territory of screwed.
This cannot just be about healthcare. The existing constitutional system hangs in the balance. The rule of law is now baked into this shutdown in a huge way.
President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
JD Vance defending that racist, Nazi Young Republicans group chat should be absolutely disqualifying, lol. In a sane country we’d be swiftly removing Vance from office for what he said today.

Of course, we are not a sane country, but I just felt like pointing that out.

See y’all Saturday!

- It is legal to organize and fund protest.
- That someone organizes and funds promotion of a protest does not mean most, some, or any protesters are paid.
- Even if all protesters are paid, that is also legal
- It is good to oppose kings and fascism
- That's not what what "begs the question" means
Sean Duffy: "The No Kings protest, Maria, really frustrating. This is part of antifa, paid protesters. It begs the question who's funding it."
devastating lmao guess this is going on that list of undeserving bombs I talk about for the rest of my life

Time and time again, they hold *us being victims of violence* against us, so I need people to stop talking about how we need to remain peaceful “because they’re just looking for an excuse to get violent.”

They aren’t waiting for an excuse. They’re already violent.
Newsweek suggesting that a “No Kings” protester being hit by a car, driven by someone who intentionally drove into the protest, counts as the protest not “remaining peaceful.”

Click the link & you get the story, but just reading that first one sounds like “No Kings” protesters were the violent ones
A Newsweek screenshot — No Kings previously coordinated 1,800 protests across the U.S. on June 14, the same day as Trump's birthday and the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army. While many of the protests remained peaceful, there were some instances of violence including a vehicular assault in Virginia. Newsweek screenshot — = Newsweek

A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday after police say he intentionally drove his
SUV through a crowd of protesters in Culpeper, Virginia, striking at least one person.
The Culpeper Police Department (CPD) arrested Joseph R. Checklick Jr. of Culpeper after officers witnessed him drive recklessly through a group of "No Kings" rallygoers near 801 James Madison
Highway.
Finally made time to get to AFTER THE HUNT, sat through half an hour of trailers, and walked out when it started cause the whole room was rockin’ and rollin’ to the TRON: ARES score from the theater next door, FML

IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU: Rose Byrne plays a mother with a sick daughter, who — whiny, needy, and *a kid* — is kept out of frame. Instead, we're mostly stuck in closeup on Byrne as she has a slow-moving anxiety attack, her life unraveling around her. She's brilliant.

RIP Diane Keaton, who I saw in 2023 as she was out for a walk in Santa Monica; I watched as she stopped to ask the American Cinematheque staff what everyone was in line to see at the Aero. She seemed delighted that people were excited to see a movie in theaters. What a legend.
This is one of those movies where I'm reading negative reviews about how it "never comes together," or "has no thematic substance," or whatever, and I'm like, then this movie wasn't FOR you... if you're writing about how this adaptation "strips away the politics," you have missed what it's doing! 🤷
KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN is in theaters now!

I'm not sure I've ever seen a movie that so intimately understands the healing power of queer diva worship like this one. It's a statement of purpose as we face a frightening future: we demand the right to find our own joy.

I took this pic in LA 119 days ago. As this spreads to other cities, my only advice—my ask!—is that people get out there, see it, and document it.

Considering AI, personalized algorithms, and a government dismantling our understanding of reality, objective truth online is DEAD. We need each other.
A man in camouflage looks out warily from behind a shield reading CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD; yellow flowers are on the step below him
JLo on Las Culturistas talks about something I found really incredible about KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN -- it's entirely earnest about fan/diva worship, never once pathologizing fandom. Escapism into pop culture IS a survival strategy for queer people. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnjY...
Incredibly, Kiss of the Spider Woman resists pathologizing that fan/diva relationship. A lesser film would’ve included some kind of moralizing — some kind of lesson about how escapism is a denial of reality and can therefore be seen as a moral failing — but this movie isn’t interested in that. This movie understands that escaping into pop culture is a tried-and-true survival strategy for queer people. It’s healing. It works.
Thinking about how we got everyone thoroughly-addicted to mindlessly scrolling short videos just in time to be able to make short videos that are indistinguishable from reality just as we got a mad-king president determined to fully obliterate the concept of objective truth… future shaping up well!
Loved everything about KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN. JLo is ON! Diego Luna is an all-time cinematic cutie! and TONATIUH, my GOD! They're as great as you've heard... a charming, silly, seductive, BRAVE performance in a film unashamed to be not just a musical, but a musical for the gays.

A delight.
