“A few bad apples” is such a weird way to try to dismiss something as not serious. The saying is “a few bad apples SPOIL THE BUNCH”, not “it’s just a few bad apples so the bunch is definitely totally fine, eat it”

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

Is anyone else thinking of contingency plans for if it happens?

Today on The Bunker: Nigel Farage is on the rise, Keir Starmer is stumbling and the Conservatives are fading into irrelevance. Should we be worried? @gavinesler.bsky.social is joined by @bwalker.uk to discuss 👉 linktr.ee/bunker_pod

In his first show after being reinstated following his suspension, Jimmy Kimmel greeted the audience with the same opener used by Jack Paar in 1960 when he returned to his show after being censored by his network.

It really didn’t take me much energy to type it, but thanks for your concern for my energy levels ❤️ But for what it’s worth, I agree. Not seeing much of that 1776 spirit.

Genuine answer: people took action on Disney and cancelled their subscriptions. If people similarly expensive action taken (like a general strike) when they try to cancel the elections… 🤞

UGH. I used to write for a homelessness charity, and interviewing former rough sleepers was completely different from interviewing people with no trauma. Trauma literally shrinks the hippocampus, which means they often have trouble even putting events in order. As if everyone has that, UUGGH

“Malicious communications…the act of sending an indecent, grossly offensive, or threatening message, or false information, with the intent to cause the recipient distress or anxiety”
So the victim of this presumably is Trump?!

Listen lads - Trump, Vance, Hegseth - at the risk of repeating myself: YOU don’t need to pray. You have the power to change the gun laws.
Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social: "We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!"
JD Vance, the vice-president, tweeted: "Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father." Those sentiments were echoed by the secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth: "Prayers for Charlie Kirk. An incredible Christian, American, and human being. May the healing hand of Jesus Christ be upon him."

What in the cartoon-nineteen-fifties-housewife is he on about now?

Linehan said he knew Ms Brooks was hanging around the meeting where insects were released 'with some very
bad people.
I knew it was the kind of thing the claimant would find very funny.
'A lot of women famously do not like insects, they have a natural revulsion against insects. This is a form of terrorism that's very specifically aimed at women.

UGH. So WEIRD. Why does he think he needs to pander to the minority who didn’t vote for him?! Such a sore winner

I seem to have pulled my left bicep. Apparently to heal it needs something called “rest”.
So my question is: do I now just stop lifting weights, or should I continue on my right side?
Will I be Popeye on the right and Olive Oil on the left?

Ok I’ve thought about it and that’s now my aim.

An M.I.T. study found that 95% of companies that had invested in A.I. tools were seeing zero return. It jibes with the emerging idea that generative A.I., “in its current incarnation, simply isn’t all it’s been cracked up to be,” johncassidysays.bsky.social writes.
The A.I.-Profits Drought and the Lessons of History
Like the steam engine, electricity, and computers, generative artificial intelligence could take longer than expected to transform the economy.

Who’s catching rabbits in New York? This is just getting weirder. Unless that’s what they upstate? No. No, still weird.

I’ve not even looked at Facebook for years but now I sort of want to look under the rock. I won’t. I won’t.

I opened Xitter today to see if anything had changed. Horrendous. As bad as the day I left. Tweet from person I know, then racism from someone I don’t, then tweet from someone I know, then terfymisogynyracism from someone I don’t, then tweet from someone I know and all the replies are racist. Hell.

So there’s TWO of them who possibly have this odd criteria? How many more?!

So it’s not urgent, but does anyone know… when Elvis sang “well you ain’t never caught a rabbit and you ain’t no friend of mine”, was he just stating two unrelated facts or did he have a very weird selection process for friends?

No worries if not. x

I’m really basing that theory on a book that’s on my death shelf, The Worm at the Core. They spent decades testing people’s reactions to death reminders, and the TDLR is it’s usually to be an absolute shit in order to deny that you’re an animal headed for oblivion, like any other animal.

They won’t be satisfied then either. That feeling in their gut is just awareness of their own mortality, and they’re so pathetically ill-equipped to deal with this sweet deal having an expiry date they will use ANYTHING as a lightning rod for it.
