Dear The Establishment: maybe try running candidates who live in New York City, for real, next time?
Now that we’ve elected a mayor can the rest of the country return to panicking about illegal aliens from Ork stealing your concubines or root vegetables?
I’d write a snarky comment about the disbelief in Mamdani’s victory tonight amongst a certain demographic but given the threats emanating from the Trump Administration, I don’t want to end up in a Starred Chamber of Icy Inquisition.
Perfectly content to see the governor of Texas “impose” a “tariff” on people moving to Texas from New York. I assume the reverse is acceptable as well, right? I mean, in my case, I can’t impose a “tariff” on anything, but I can avoid doing business in or with businesses in Texas, right?
JFK taking the AirTrain to Jamaica out of service on a Monday morning is example 8,617,812 of why the Port Authority isn’t particularly serious about the AirTrain as a method of transportation.
Didn't do it in 2012 for obvious reasons.
Missing Marathon Day in NYC. From 2001 until 2011 a group of us hung out by the NY Blood Center in LIC handing out kleenex to runners. I think the first year we just bought napkins and tissues at a local store, for the following years I’d do a Costco run and buy several cases of tissues.
I regret turning the game on.
Tried to manifest a kouign-amann at Bouchon by asking for one each morning and utterly failing because it’s not in season.
Chrome will start defaulting to HTTPS only with version 154. One area that will catch people is that a lot of domain parking sites are HTTP only, another is that many sites redirect their top level domain.‌‌com to www.domain.‌com, they will need to add an SSL instance to catch those redirects.
That’s why there’s no rhyme nor reason to Administration policies and decisions. The chaos is the policy. The chaos is the goal.
I keep forgetting that the only point of the Administration is to provoke crises. Provoke as many crises as possible to manifest the perverted “fourth turning”. Eventually someone will respond in such a way that the Administration can justify a ridiculous response.
This thing where news media will remove content from the existing paid subscription into a higher premium tier is annoying and a poor consumer experience. Sending me a notification to my paid subscription for content I can’t access is rancid salt on that wound.
You know, none of this would have happened if they hadn’t discontinued Postum in 2007. I know, I know, it was relaunched years later but by then the timeline had forked.
I'm confused why HR1, the "Big Beautiful Bill", for all the sturm und drang, did not fund the government for FY26. The Republicans blew all of their political capital on a bill that…did not do the one thing Congress absolutely needs to do every year?
If the original sin of the Internet is online advertising, its creed is that none of this technology we use and rely on has a cost, it’s all free, and it’s sacrilege to ask for any compensation.
Reading commentary criticizing Signal and Meredith W’ on using AWS which can be summed up as “why can’t the thing I rely on and don’t pay for which doesn’t even have advertising build and run a multi billion dollar infrastructure instead of AWS?”
Can we just charge them with Constitutional arson and convict them for treason already? Burning the country down for the insurance money, delusionally believing they’ll rebuild it the “reich” way.
Why would anyone sign any agreement with the U.S. right now if it can be undone with a video clip of Ronald Reagan?
Kind of telling that he thinks SCOTUS can be bought off with a single ad featuring the patron saint of American conservatism.
Why yes, I love to get fasting bloodwork done late afternoon because that is the only time I can get blood drawn.
Also their Web UI needs a search that shows appointments available then filters by location. Having to click each location, search, and filter is a waste of time (when the answer is consistently: not in time for your upcoming medical appointment).
Labcorp either needs a boatload of phlebotomists or give up its monopolish role in blood work. Two weeks to get an appointment for a blood draw within a reasonable distance of my house is insane.
American Caucasians will be in the demographic minority in ten, fifteen, maybe twenty years. And I really can’t blame whatever new ethnic majority in the country in treating us as we, as a group, have treated them.
We could be curing cancer, feeding the hungry, employing the poor, any of a thousand things to benefit society, and instead we’re having to waste resources mitigating the damage the Trump Administration is doing to the country out of ginned up fear of demographic change.
