If your entire accessibility strategy relies on developers seeking out and reading documentation…

… yeah, good luck with that.
Why does my brain try to sabotage me?

Had a panic dream at 4am that I missed my web accessibility specialist exam tomorrow because I got hyperfocused on a task and lost track of time 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is why I get stuck in waiting mode instead 🙄
Ooh exciting! I loved the first season so happy to hear there’ll be more!
I literally just got back from returning some library books on my lunch break and the library messages me to say my reservation is ready.

I was just there 15 minutes ago 😭
5 day working weeks are overrated. Can I please have some more bank holidays and long weekends?
I’m trying to book at a center. I understand that bottles should be clear so people don’t smuggle in things to cheat but it seems a bit much to need to request it. And I need to know bathroom breaks are allowed as otherwise I will get major anxiety. But I don’t know why they must phone me to book
Same although I’m not convinced I can last that long without water or a toilet break 😬 and I’d quite like to pass the exam. I don’t know why they have to make the whole process so stressful 😥
Trying to book an exam: if you need accommodations we will ring you to schedule your exam (even having a water bottle is an accommodation)

Me: 😭😭😭 weighs life choices and which is worse - 3 hours without water/toilet break or having to make a phone call 😭😭😭

Are CSS Carousels accessible sarasoueidan.com/blog/css-car...

In this post, I share some important insights from examining the accessibility of CSS-only carousels that use new features introduced in the #CSS Overflow Module Level 5 spec.

Very true! I wish I had more say in that but I’m auditing a site that’s already built. I can always make the recommendation though
It’s amazing how differently different browsers and screen reader combinations can behave.

I was testing some custom checkboxes in a form and they behaved wildly differently with Chrome + VO, safari + VO and Firefox + NVDA.

Remember to check as many browsers as possible, not everyone uses Chrome
Passed the Web Accessibility Specialist screening from IAAP so now I can book my exam in May. Time to study shortcut keys for 5 different screen readers 🥲

The web accessibility specialist courses from Deque are really thorough but all the “must, should, may” language is super confusing. Just tell me the WCAG level instead 😬
Enjoy your rest and good luck with finding your next adventure 😊
My biggest takeaway from JSDay conference last week came from a 5 minute lightning talk.

You are not your user. Be a user advocate.

I like the term user advocate. I feel like it describes perfectly what I try to do.
Just be a fair weather gardener 👨‍🌾 I stay inside with a good book when the weather is bad
True! Back, thighs, arms usually all end up hurting after a few hours in the garden 😅
Having a garden is a fun side project. I find weeding is quite therapeutic 🌱
It’s not a keyboard trap if you can tab past it but something like a skip link at the beginning of it could be helpful
I put something somewhere safe but it was obviously so safe even I can’t remember where I put it 😬
