Thanks Marcus!!
Yeah there's still plenty of great hikes to do though! E.g. Mt Kuju down in Kyushu, or if you want to stay closer to Tokyo, maybe a local mountain like Mt Tanzawa or Mt Kumotori is on the harder side (~20km)

And thank you! I'd love to try out some hiking in China one day.
Heya! Unfortunately I don't have much experience in off season hiking in the Alps - anywhere at the 2500m+ mark will be covered in snow! So you will need to bring gear like crampons + ice axe.
Front matter is a good tip! I don't make enough use of that - thanks!
My monthly newsletter is out - I'll admit I'm feeling a bit social media'd out and I sort of want to quit my newsletter + Bluesky altogether 😅 I want to stick out the newsletter until the end of the year at least!

Yeah actually I think I'd go even more closely aligned with the existing stuff around it (added some random notes to the alt text)

of course I'm not a professional designer by any means so feel free to ignore any or all of it!
The top half feels a bit inconsistent to the bottom half - I'd try and reuse the same colour and styling for the publication/tag bits compared to the next and previous post bits 🤔
A 2 day hike to Mt Hiuchi and Mt Myoko - my 60th and 61st hyakumeizans (only 39 to go!)

Turned out to be a pretty foggy hike, but managed to dodge most of the rain so I’m happy!

Thanks so much David 🫶
The most recent trilogy is pretty good! I've tried to watch the original series but unfortunately it's quite dated (sexist) 🫠
Last weekend Japan had a 3-day weekend thanks to its "Mountain Day" public holiday - unfortunately it was a bit of a rainy one, but managed to sneak in a day hike up Mt Amakazari

Yees, that's the plan! Which I think is going to be a great thing to help get users more invested in it if they can jump in and help out as well 🫶
This week's post is a bit of a throwback to 2 years ago when I climbed Mt Yake - a nice mountain to hike if you were interested in visiting Nagano's Kamikochi area.
